Job Description

Vancity is the largest private sector Living Wage Employer in Canada and have been consistently recognized as one of the Top Employers in Canada. Come join our team of 2,700 diverse individuals and access competitive rewards & benefits, all while knowing you are a part of a greater movement.

Are you excited to support Vancity's values towards Socially Responsible Investing options to new investors? Have you always looked forward to retaining valuable and high-potential members to support organizational growth targets? If yes, this role brings the possibility to explore your passion.

The Role: Wealth Relationship Manager

  • The Wealth Relationship Manager (WRM) provides exceptional service to current and potential members by offering a full range of deposit, investment, and credit advice. The WRM identifies the member’s place in their lifecycle, engaging in rich discovery conversations, and recommending solutions to meet their customized needs. This must happen while working with a broad network of specialists, in a seamless, collaborative way, to provide a holistic advice experience.
  • The WRM will support branch goals by proactively bundling Vancity products and services, actively participating in campaigns and member offers, while working with a diverse network of internal specialists. Deep efforts to uncover opportunities and refer are imperative to the role’s success. The WRM will be able to complete a wide range of tasks -- including completion of credit applications, managing estates, identifying need for early-stage financial planning, servicing socially responsible investment products, while maintaining availability in-branch to support new and existing members. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to effectively connect with all members without bias and provide coaching to peers.
  • Relationship building is key as is being relatable, to provide individualized advice or engage with the appropriate specialist colleague. The WRM will manage member contact in-person, over the phone and virtually with comfort, maintaining a forward-looking approach to their contact plan. The WRM will be able to process a full range of complex transactions that include both credit and a broad range of socially responsible investment products. This role is about continuing with an AMs current advice-based solutions, while improving their knowledge to offer a wider diversity of solutions (both sides of the balance sheet).

 A typical day would involve:

  • Meet with branch team to celebrate results, educate, recognize, and coach.
  • Meet with and understanding each member’s complete cashflow to determine their unique immediate, secondary, needs.
  • Engage with partners across the organization to present a full spectrum of advice, always pushing oneself to better present areas of the business and solutions you are less comfortable with.
  • Proactive connection with members to understand needs and provide relevant advice (this should be very focused on improving results across all lines of business, increasing the number of lines of business serving all members as well as number of services each member holds).
  • Provide relevant, tailored advice that is documented in CRM and part of an advice and relationship continuum (a routinized business development lifecycle), not a one-off transaction. All interactions should be focused on results and should end with a “and next time we meet we will” vs a closed-ended good-bye.

You are:

  • Analytical and a confident decision maker.
  • Have or are developing a passion for capital markets, investing and personal finance and broadening your understanding of all solutions.
  • Passionate about developing long-term, loyal relationship for the enterprise (not just with you).
  • Aware of your biases and always working to remove them from your interactions. Assumptions about values, future goals, and lifestyle, must be replaced with curiosity to discover.
  • Inquisitive, curious, creative, driven to improve.
  • Collaborative by nature in all aspects of your work and always helping others to be the same. Attentive not just to the needs you can serve, but also to the needs that will need to be fulfilled by your colleagues.
  • Personable and outgoing, relatable, bringing your lived experience to your interactions, demonstrating you are a strong communicator (including internal communication through CRM).

You have

  • Hold an active MFDA License (IFIC or CSC).
  • Have a passion for understanding our members’ unique needs and providing tailored advice
  • Proven track record of proactive business development and member prospecting with equivalent sales results
  • University degree, on-the-ground business development experience (cold-calling included), lived-experience that may improve our ability to better serve under-served segments, relationship management experience.
  • Two years in an Account Manager role, or equivalent, providing tailored financial advice to a broad range of members

 Bonus points, if you have:

  • An entrepreneurial background or hold, or are working towards, your Financial Planning designation (PFP or CFP).

The team:

In this role, you will report into the Branch Manager of your branch with a dotted line accountability to your Regional Manager of Sustainable Wealth Solutions..

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.

Pay Range: 67,795.00 to 91,946.40

Posting Deadline: Please apply by 4:00 PM PST, August , 30 2023

We offer:

  • Our permanent employees qualify for attractive benefit packages that can be customized and changed each year to meet their evolving needs
  • Our health care & dental benefits offer three levels of health care and dental coverage for you to select from. These benefits will also be effective immediately based on your hire date.
  • In addition to the 10 statutory holidays in British Columbia, Vancity provides an additional three statutory holidays. We offer care days for periods of short-term personal illness or emergency family illness, plus opportunities to take unpaid leave for a variety of reasons.
  • New employees receive between three to four weeks of vacation allowance per calendar year, and the number of vacation days grows — to a maximum of six weeks per year — as their length of service increases. In addition, full-time, permanent staff may be able to purchase extra days of vacation through our flexible benefits package.
  • We understand that retirement means different things to different people and at Vancity we will offer you a Defined pension plan that pays you a retirement income for life.
  • We are the largest private-sector Living Wage Employer in Canada and have been consistently recognized as one of the Top Employers in Canada

At Vancity we’re committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace to help our people and communities thrive and prosper. Diversity in our workforce is integral so that we can truly represent, understand and respond to our community needs and deliver on our member experience. As part of this commitment we are taking action to learn more about our applicants and ask that you complete a short and anonymous Diversity Survey that will influence the design and execution of Vancity’s overall DEI initiatives and programs, one of which aims to advance our commitment to become a financial force for change and build a fair world. Please click this hyperlink to complete the Diversity Survey.  Your responses are collected anonymously and will never be linked to your job application.

Please note that all shortlisted candidates for this role will be required to complete a background check which includes employment verification, credit check, and a criminal record check. Vancity is an inclusive and equitable employer and actively seeks to advance racial equity, inclusion and belonging across the organization. Vancity offers required accommodations in all stages of the recruitment process.  If you require an accommodation, please advise us, and we will work with you to meet your needs.
