Manulife Private Wealth (“MPW”) delivers discretionary investment counselling services to High-Net-Worth individuals and their families. The Private Wealth Consultant, Western Region is a senior member of a team of private wealth professionals delivering institutional quality investment management, private banking, financial, estate and tax planning services to High Net Worth (“HNW”) individuals and their families, as well as institutions in the Western Region. The candidate may be located in Calgary or Vancouver (Vancouver preferred).


As a Private Wealth Consultant, you will lead the business development efforts in your region, as part of a national team, driving new opportunities internally and externally for Manulife Private Wealth. You will develop strong relationships with centers of influence, independent advisors and key internal partners.


Responsibilities


Business Development


  • Deliver professional business development events engaging with key Manulife Investment Management colleagues and internal/external partners to provide thought leadership on a variety of subjects of interest to HNW families
  • Pursue book buy opportunities across advisors within region to amplify AUM growth
  • Collaborate as a team with investment counsellors and other professionals to best articulate, enhance and deliver the Manulife Private Wealth value proposition
  • Effectively manage expense business development budgets to deliver financial results
  • Drive the achievement of the firm’s business development targets
  • Track, manage and report on your activities and sales pipeline through client relationship management systems
  • Develop and share ongoing standard methodologies, sales, marketing and business development ideas and strategies with peers.
  • Pursue opportunities to grow AUM actively by increasing the number of clients referred to the firm through your network (including, key centers of influence and advisors).
  • Develop keen understanding of the Manulife Private Wealth value proposition, including those of key partners
  • Identify appropriate prospective referral partners to demonstrate the firm’s Private Wealth offering across their client base of High Net Worth Individuals and institutions


Advisor Experience


  • Engage as relationship manager for the firm with, and introduce and strengthen the firm’s value proposition to, advisors and centers of influence in your region
  • Introduce advisors and centers of influence to investment counsellors and other Private Wealth professionals
  • Follow through on the risk and compliance processes and policies to ensure we safeguard our clients’ assets, maintain their privacy, act in their best interests, and ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements
  • Support advisor and their team through the book buy process
  • Provide in depth consulting services for prospective referring advisors such as developing sales strategies for identifying and prospecting for HNW clients, talking points on the benefits of working with MPW and providing information and support on the referral payments process


What are we looking for?


  • University degree and 5+ years related sales experience in the high net worth wealth management industry working directly with advisors, centers of influence and/or clients
  • Deep understanding of finance and investments
  • Moderate travel within the region is required
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, as well as presentation skills
  • A successful track record in business development and closing deals
  • Natural propensity towards teamwork and collaboration; proven coachability
  • Proven ability to develop long lasting, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
