Job Description
The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada/STEM International Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a regional STEM program open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. SMAC-SIAC is an inclusive STEM private school catering to all incomes.


Our STEM program is the first of its kind in Canada and seeks to educate students from preschool to grade 12 (2.5 years of age to 18 years of age). SMAC-SIAC specializes in an advanced, bar-none, STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

STEM Canada is a registered not for profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.


Role Overview


We are seeking dedicated and responsible volunteers to join our team as supervisors for program trips, outings, and off-campus activities. As a volunteer in this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of participants during these excursions. All expenses, including food, ticket charges, admission fees, and attractions, will be covered, and volunteers will also receive an outing shirt as part of their involvement.


Responsibilities


  • Engage with participants during the outings, encouraging participation, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Facilitate group activities, icebreakers, and team-building exercises to enhance the participants' experience.
  • Collaborate with the program leadership team and fellow volunteers to ensure smooth operation and coordination of activities.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to participants during program trips, outings, and off-campus activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Additional duties may include assisting in organizing and coordinating logistics for the outings, and including transportation arrangements on a voluntary basis but not required.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor, serving as a positive role model for participants.
  • Provide assistance to participants as needed, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up tasks related to the outings, ensuring the proper disposal of waste and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to the program leadership team for improving future outings and activities.
  • Communicate and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to participants, ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to enforce them appropriately.
  • Physical capability to participate in activities and provide support as needed.
  • Positive attitude, patience, and adaptability in a camp-like setting.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance for scheduled outings.

  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with other volunteers and staff.
