The Director of Optimization and Operations oversees and provides leadership for enterprise technology products and services including but not limited to; infrastructure, COTS software, security, telecommunications, while effectively managing IT vendors and service providers.
The successful candidate will be familiar with and will continue to evolve and implement the maturity of technology policies, standards, procedures, and operational best practices, in order to efficiently and effectively enable the organization while contributing to the organizational strategy for the Digital team.
This role requires hands-on experience researching, recommending, implementing, and monitoring technology solutions to address business problems, focusing on effectiveness, efficiency, and automation to deliver strategic objectives.
The position requires strong alignment with organizational values, strong communication, leadership, and relationship management skills. As such, a successful candidate would also be technically sound and have the ability to be a proactive internal and external point of contact, adding value to the organization beyond their technical competency.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and cultivate relationships throughout the organization and promote a collaborative approach to utilizing technology to help achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Provide insight for technology performance improvements.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the infrastructure performance monitoring dashboard, and critical KPIs to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Effectively develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Contribute and execute the strategic business plan that supports the goals of the organization as it related to the IT Infrastructure area of responsibility.
  • Acquire efficient and cost-effective technology services and products.
  • Develop and effectively manage infrastructure operating and capital budgets.
  • Ensure technology is efficiently managed as a strategic asset, and that its utilization is effectively governed in accordance with information management standards and policies.
  • Lead, direct, and manage the daily operations of the Technology Infrastructure team to support technology processes, business process automation, and optimizations; improve customer experience.
  • Develop and manage technology policies, standards, procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and testing of a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct monthly 1on1 reviews with each direct report.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of team members to support the operational needs while delivering to projects scope, timelines, cost, and quality.
  • Provide recommendations on initiatives and projects to management based on schedules, priority, and resource capacity.
  • Communicate trade-offs and risks, while driving key project decisions.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Action and results-oriented.
  • ITIL certification is preferred.
  • Passionate about the technology space with the ability to maintain knowledge of current and leading-edge technologies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related discipline.
  • This is a hybrid role that requires the successful candidate to be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.**
  • Financial Sector experience is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of Information Technology experience within a Senior Management role.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities to motivate, lead, organize, and coach direct reports.
  • Driven to understand business problems and partner with the business to develop solutions.
  • Experience in vendor and/or contract management.
  • Proven ability to lead and maintain a cohesive and engaged team comprised of multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and balance priorities successfully under tight deadlines.
  • Proven strategic leadership skills that promote out-of-the-box thinking to inspire and motivate team members toward a shared vision.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to excel in working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally at all levels of the organization in a positive and effective manner.
  • Experience with efficient implementation, optimization, and management of cloud technology (IAAS, SAAS, and PAAS).
