Position Overview
We require a full-time experienced Director of Operations who will be responsible for the development and management of an operational ‘A’ team. The Director of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring efficient and smooth running of the hotel portfolio. A strong, motivated team is already in place, and we are looking for a candidate with the same drive and commitment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with ease.
Salary: $80,000-$100,000
Location: Canmore
Shifts: Must have great flexibility to meet the team’s needs.
Key Responsibilities
People & Culture
Promotes the Basecamp brand and culture throughout operational departments.
Work with People & Culture on hiring and terminating.
Leads, trains, encourages, supports, acknowledges, disciplines, and terminates employees of all departments under supervision.
Conduct 3-month probationary reviews and annual reviews of direct reports.
Ensure awareness of all regarding policies and rules and not only obey them but assists in enforcing them.
Follow and adhere to all Basecamp policies.
Ensure staff uniforms are worn at all times.
Implements and manages the hotel's health and safety plan following meetings with the health and safety committee.
Revenue & Financials
Work closely with General Managers and Director of Revenue & Sales to ensure rooms are ready to sale and the highest possible revenue is being generated depending on the time of year.
Ensure labour budgets for all departments remain in target area.
Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Net Operating Income, Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General and more are on target and accurate.
Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
Operations
Works with the Vice President of Operations and Director of Hospitality Services to create and maintain Housekeeping and Guest Services policies and procedures.
Leads by example and monitor daily operations of guest satisfaction while consistently maintain high level of service.
Insists upon meticulous cleanliness and orderliness of all the properties.
Helps achieve departmental goals and contributes ideas for better guest satisfaction, colleague relations, and revenue enhancement by providing motivational leadership.
Meets weekly with management team (GMs across all properties).
Proactive approach on guest comments/issues, ensuring these are handle in a timely and professional manner meeting or exceeding guest expectations.
Make suggestions to the Vice President of Operations concerning improvements which would lead to make more satisfied customers and/ore increase volume of business or profit.
Establish the hotel’s reputation for quality by inspecting rooms, public areas, and the surrounding grounds for cleanliness and upkeep on a periodic basis.
New Business Development
Evaluates operational issues to determine how competitive and current it is with the latest trends in the industry.
Become an ambassador for Basecamp in the local community, creating positive relationships with other businesses and stakeholders in the region.
Skills and Experience
Be familiar with the operation and programming of the WebRezPro point of sale system.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows – Outlook, Excel, Word.
A solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost controls.
Strong managerial, analytical and leadership skills.
Travel to properties that are outside the Town of Canmore.
Valid Driver’s License with clean abstract for three years minimum.
First Aid Certification (will be training).
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of work experience as manager or director with a minimum of 100+ employees.
Must have experience in the hospitality sector.
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality or Management.
Financial background is considered an asset.
