Position: System Engineer (Kubernetes experience required)

Our client, consistently ranked as one of Canada’s top employers in Fintech space, is looking for a System Engineer. They are looking for someone who has solid experience with Linux/ Administration, Monitoring Kubernetes, RedHat V7/ V8 and Azure.

Core functions:

1. 50% BAU/Support and 50% new projects
2. Patching, Monitoring Kubernetes (they use New Relic), Tuning, Back-Ups, etc.
3. Monitoring and support for on Prem (700+ Linux servers and 2 data centers) and cloud (Azure)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain infrastructure build, provisioning and patching automation utilizing orchestration and configuration management tools
• Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation
• Develop, implement, and manage tools, scripts, and code to standardize and automate operational processes and tasks
• Provide support on all core system software including web servers, application servers and middleware components
• Participate in rotating 7 x 24 on-call support
• Create/Review/Update procedural and support documentation
• Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotational basis
• Implement, configure, and manage application and infrastructure monitoring and logging solutions
• Participate in implementing improvements to manual process to leverage the infrastructure and applications for greater efficiencies

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

• Proficiency in writing clear and comprehensive technical documentation
• Experience in implementing and operating application and infrastructure monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Knowledge and experience with Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
• Knowledge in scripting languages such as bash
• Knowledge and experience with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Vault, Nexus, etc.
• Knowledge of Azure services such as APIM, Event Grid, Monitor etc.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and virtualization technologies
• Knowledge of containers (such as Docker) and container orchestration systems (such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry)
• Familiarity or experience with working within a micro-service architecture
• Interest in building and working with cloud native products and services
• Experience working with highly available enterprise environments and culture
• Have a technical passion in DevOps practice
