Overview:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the administration, implementation, and health of the global enterprise network. This position requires an intense dedication to high network availability, best practice network architecture, network security, continuous enhancement, high quality of work, personal ownership, and executing to completion in an environment of competing priorities. On-Call/after-hours support is required to address critical issues should they arise, and limited end-user engagement may also be required to resolve issues or validate changes to the network.
Other duties may include but are not limited to creating/maintaining detailed documentation of deployments, active engagement with ISP’s and equipment procurement vendors to meet service and project objectives, as well as the ability to lead discussions on network stability, improvement, standardization, and vision. The goal of the Network Engineer is to pioneer improvements to the maturity, security, and resiliency of the global IT network environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure recoverability of network services by implementing backup and archive operations
- Lead efforts in defining, tuning, and implementing network standards
- Apply best practices in Incident, Problem, Change, Patch/Release and Asset Management in the scope of Network Administration
- Respond to networking issues in a coordinated effort with the IT Operations teams to quickly restore services and perform root cause analysis as required
- Provide technical expertise on all aspects of network services; such as Wi-Fi, VPN, internet connectivity, and VLAN segregation, ensuring that they are fault tolerant and highly available
- Actively propose network enhancements and new technologies to meet technical directives such as redundancy and high availability
- Engage directly with external vendors to participate in network equipment procurement, implementation services, and cost effectiveness of competing solutions
- Participate in daily network operations activities by responding to MACD request and issues as they arise
- Maintain comprehensive network hardware and software configuration database and all supporting documentation for relevant systems
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Tier 2 or 3 network administration
- Dedication to accurate supporting documentation and diagrams
- Relevant industry Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCNE, etc.
- Hands on experience with Meraki networking or related technologies
- Strong knowledge of security infrastructure design (Cisco ASA, FirePOWER, etc.)
- Ability to build and earn trust of co-workers and clients quickly
- Comfort with spanning-tree and best practices of network topology
- Experience merging/integrating networks and working in environments with multiple manufacturers (Cisco, FortiNet, etc…)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with the guidance of IT Leadership and deliver meaningful feedback for improving the performance of network operations
- Strong knowledge of Cisco remote access solutions and TFA
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
