Supervisor - Hamilton Urban Safer Supply Program

1.0 FTE (35 hours/week)
Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre (HUCCHC) is a thriving inner city health centre and a leader in the provision of high-quality primary health services and health promotion programs. Our comprehensive health services are delivered through a dynamic team of multidisciplinary, inter-professional health providers. As an inner-city health centre our client populations include individuals and families with chronic and complex health and social conditions, many of which are living in poverty.
General Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Supervisor to work in our Hamilton Urban Safer Supply Program (HUSSP). The team consists of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Health Navigator, Cultural Ambassador, Case Manager and Peer Mentor.
Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the program. The Supervisor will support the necessary training, supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality and efficiency of services to individuals who are eligible and require safer supply. The Supervisor will work with the leadership team to ensure ongoing evaluation and improvement.
The HUSSP team provides clients using street-based drug supply, who are at high risk of overdose in the community and of medical complications due to drug use, a regulated supply of prescription through a Nurse Practitioner in an effort to reduce overdose and overdose deaths.
Specific Responsibilities
As the HUSSP Supervisor you will:

• Support the HUSSP team by providing direct staff supervision and individual development support to deliver consistent high-quality service to all HUSSP clients
• Oversee program evaluation and data collection
• Work with members of the HUSSP team to attach clients to program development activities such as advisory, research and other engagement obligations and opportunities
• Oversee supervision of volunteers, graduates, students and/or learners as appropriate and in accordance with the Centre’s standards and commitment to learning
• Overall coordination and supervision of staff at outreach locations
• Work closely with program partners and the community stakeholders to identify current and emerging safe supply care and support needs, service gaps, to enhance access to safer supply programming
• Prepare required program reports

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience supervising, training, and coaching staff
• Computer literacy
• Degree from a recognized university or a combination of relevant education and work experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Extensive knowledge of community services and resources
• Knowledge of clinical practices and related policies and procedures
• 3-5 years health promotion and/or harm reduction experience in a community setting working with homeless and marginalized populations including people who inject illicit drugs
• Experience leading an inter professional team or multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication, analytical and organization skills
• Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Strong understanding of and commitment to harm reduction, trauma-informed, and anti-oppression practices
• Advocacy, crisis intervention and prevention, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
• Confident in asserting and maintaining strong boundaries
• Strong knowledge of issues affecting communities facing access barriers to health care
• Develop and maintain an onsite flexible work schedule that accommodates the needs of the community. Ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends
