Job Description

GS1 Canada is actively looking to add an experienced Social Media & Communications Coordinator to our Marketing and Communications team who brings social media experience, strong writing skills and experience developing social media content for a variety of platforms. In this role, in addition to your mastery with words and awareness of social media trends, you bring a strong understanding of analytics and amplification tools. This role is an integral part of the Communications team, and is a key contributor to departmental priorities and writing projects to reinforce the value of GS1 Canada and global standards.


WHAT YOU'LL DO


Social Media

  • Ensure a consistent brand experience across all platforms, including brand voice and creative elements
  • Maintain a rolling 3-month social calendar with a strategic content mix that represents GS1 Canada priorities and the interests of our entire community
  • Discover, share and integrate emerging digital trends, best practices, relevant competitor/industry approaches, new solutions and opportunities that can contribute to GS1 Canada’s strategic objectives and/or audience experience
  • Execute social media strategy and track KPIs across social platforms.
  • Create compelling social content, stories and series that connect with our audience, increase engagement, encourage sharing and push to the GS1 Canada website
  • Leverage all opportunities to extend messaging reach, including boosting, influencer engagement and internal staff engagement
  • Lead regular cross-functional social media meetings with internal stakeholder groups to collaborate on content planning and scheduling
  • Monitor performance and provide monthly report for tracking KPIs, performance, insights and recommendations


Communications

  • Provide writing support, including for GS1 Canada newsletters and other writing and communications projects as needed
  • Media monitoring, development and distribution of media scan reports
  • Departmental budget coordination
  • Monitor brand reputation and reviews, including Google, develop and post responses


WHAT YOU'LL BRING


  • Ability to anticipate and identify social media trends and opportunities to increase awareness and engagement
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing/Public Relations, Digital Marketing, or a related area
  • Successfully managing and executing a social media content calendar across multiple social platforms
  • Proven, demonstrated experience:
  • Producing compelling copy and content that resonates with diverse audiences across multiple platforms and channels, including social media, webpages and the GS1 Canada intranet.
  • Strong alignment with GS1 Canada values: Integrity Always, Inclusive Collaboration, Innovation, Accountability and Super-serving Subscribers
  • Developing and executing paid social campaigns and boosted posts.
  • Developing social media insight reports using data and other analytics tools
  • Managing English and French social platforms
  • Developing quality creative and video content relevant to a variety of social media platforms.
  • Experience using social media and communications tools, including but not limited to Sprout Social, Google Analytics, HotJar, Meltwater and others
  • Exceptional quality control skills and a strong eye for detail
  • Clear understanding of unique platform features to optimize engagement, including Instagram stories, tabs, polls, etc.
