Job Description

Sansom Equipment Limited is the leading distributor and service provider for pumps, generators, blowers, valves, VFDs and packaged engineered system for industrial and municipal applications across Eastern Canada.


We are currently looking for a personable, detail-oriented Service Manager to join our growing organization in the Truro, Nova Scotia branch office. In this position, you will provide excellent customer service experiences and maintain strong relations with customers, manufacturers, dealers, sales representatives and service team members. As such, you must be a positive, energetic leader who excels in working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


The Service Manager (SM) will provide excellent customer service experiences and maintain strong relations with customers, manufacturers, dealers, sales representatives, and service team members. As such, this must be a positive, energetic leader who excels in working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Working with Inside Service Lead, SM is responsible for the oversight of scheduling and production of OEM “Sansom Built” products such as engines, generators, etc;
  • Stay apprised of industry standards, innovations, tools and/or processes that can benefit the company.
  • Working with Inside Service Lead, SM is responsible for the oversight of training of internal shop personnel on the assembly and production of Sansom Built products.
  • Working with Service Coordination Lead (SCL) to delegate and direct service tasks to create an effective and efficient schedule for several technicians.
  • Hold regular production meetings with BM, IC and SCL on in house Sansom Built orders.
  • Working with Inside Service Lead, SM is responsible for the oversight of creation, implementation and execution of a proper quality control and production efficiency programs for all Sansom Built product.
  • SM will also work with Inside Service Lead to coordinate repairs of equipment brought into the facility. This includes proper documentation of repair on receipt, scheduling inspection, quoting and reporting to customers on findings of inspections, and subsequent execution of repairs to customer equipment.
  • SM will also work with IC to reflect any changes to BOMs on Sansom Built units and to also ensure relative components are stocked when needed.
  • Working with Inside Service Lead, SM is responsible for oversight of documentation of the manufacturing / assembly process of Sansom Built units.
  • Follow and abide by all industry standards, regulations, and laws.
  • Prioritize health and safety standards, safety documentation and a clean work environment.
  • Responsible for growing department by establishing an effective sales program focusing on several fronts: Contract work, day to day maintenance, breakdowns, emergency planning, in house repairs, etc.
  • Focus on maintaining strong partner relations with key manufacturers and dealers.
  • Consistently deliver excellent customer service, superior product knowledge, and trouble shooting skills
  • Monitor employees and provide regular progress reports to improve job satisfaction and efficiency.

Other Requirements

  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Dedicated to maintaining an organized, tidy workstation / service department.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft programs (such as Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Understanding of mechanical equipment and a strong willingness to learn the products that Sansom represents.
  • Structured, efficient and results driven.
  • Physically fit to comfortably navigate industrial and marine work environments.
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Highly self-motivated towards market growth in Parts & Service
