MAJOR DUTIES:
Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial reports. Reporting responsibilities include corporate financial reporting as well as Divisional Management reporting. Provide financial support and analysis to assigned functional areas. Identify out of line situations and recommend corrective action.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of divisional policies and procedures that adhere to CEO/CFO Certification control standards.
  • Maintenance of the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Ensure that financial policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the division and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently. Regularly review policies and procedures with Divisional Controller and Senior Financial Staff, to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the company.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.
FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ACCOUNTING
  • Ensure that the divisional financial reporting is in accordance with GAAP.
  • Liaise with external auditors during year-end audit.
  • Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts within JD Edwards. Investigate and resolve system reporting issues and implement recommended solutions.
  • Coordinate the preparation of year-end audit working papers.
  • Develop and/or prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Prepare the monthly corporate standard financial reporting package and supporting analysis on a timely basis. Ensure that divisional financial results are explained completely and accurately, with variances explained and areas of risk identified.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled regularly.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
  • Liaise with department heads to explain department results and analyze variances from budget.
  • Coordinate the preparation and distribution of monthly departmental financial reports.
  • Provide financial advice and support to achieve all objectives.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of all necessary government reports and returns.
  • Coordinate the preparation of consolidated divisional budgets and forecasts.
  • Financial Analysis of results, identifying issues, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring timely execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • University degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent is required. CA/CMA/CGA and/or MBA with prior financial analysis and reporting experience is required.
Experience:
  • Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills.
  • Hands on involvement in Program, Manufacturing or Cost Accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be hands-on, detail and results oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Effective Communication at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing.
  • Minimum of 3 years in Financial Analysis, Accounting and/or Auditing.
  • Strong Computer skills.
