Senior Devops Developer (Java)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineering Developer with experience in Java programming to join our fintech industry’s client Platform Engineering group. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing our new technology platform. Collaborating with internal product owners, development teams, and architects, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions. Working in an agile environment, you will actively participate in daily scrum meetings and play a key role in building our DevOps platform.

Office location: Toronto (can work REMOTELY)

Salary: $110,000 - 130,000 per year

Responsibilities:

• Streamline release management by actively engaging in both Development and Operations activities.
• Lead end-to-end systems engineering, requirements gathering, and user story development to deliver operational automation capabilities.
• Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, automating various steps in the software delivery process, including code builds, automated testing, and deployment to staging and production environments.
• Implement and maintain system configurations and baselines that adhere to secure application development software control best practices and standards.
• Provide high-availability operational support and develop automated solutions across the environment.
• Enhance internal toolings, such as instrumentation, dashboards, and deployment automation, while ensuring the high availability of our production services.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of Java, J2EE, JVM, SpringBoot, and Java runtimes.
• Proficient in DevOps and platform reliability engineering, ensuring the 24/7 operation of the DevOps platform.
• Knowledge of integrating applications with multiple tools/stacks and deployment best practices.
• 5+ years of experience in SRE or DevOps, with a focus on building software development pipelines.
• Self-starter and outgoing team player, capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex problems to non-technical individuals using simple language.
• Degree or advanced diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in setting up and configuring products like Vault and Prisma Cloud.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, and working with RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in building, deploying, and troubleshooting Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Azure Stack Hub.
• Experience working in an agile setting with expertise in DevOps, pipeline tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarCube), and gitOps processes.
• Experience with Ansible and Terraform is a plus.
• Knowledge of software-defined routers like Envoy or Nginx, Consul, microservices, and service mesh.
• Familiarity with software design patterns, SRE models, and chaos engineering tools.
• Familiarity with Container Orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
