Job Description
Are you a storyteller with a background in software development or developer tools? Can you make cutting-edge technology approachable for new users while communicating complex concepts to a wide range of skill levels? Do you want to have a direct impact on the future of the Tezos blockchain? If so, this may be a perfect opportunity for you to work with a team that believes your work is fundamental to its success.

Removing technical barriers and finding new ways to simplify and improve the Tezos blockchain development experience is what we do. Your goal will be to guide users through the learning process and empower them to get the most from our products. ECAD Labs believes that high-quality product design, documentation, and support is critical to the success of our developer tooling, and you will play an integral role in helping to create, improve and maintain these resources.

The ideal candidate for a position at ECAD Labs is a lifelong learner who thrives on the challenge of working with new technologies, takes pride in seeing how others use their work to change the world, and values community, empathy, and candor. You will be part of a small team whose core values include offering a safe environment to be yourself, share your ideas, and provide your perspective.

In this role, you will help us improve the Tezos blockchain developer experience. You will partner with product managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to build API/developer documentation, tutorials, playbooks, social media announcements, blogs, video content, FAQs, and other product-related documentation and presentations. You will also act as a mentor and contribute to product planning and development.

Your Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Contribute to products via analysis of customer requirements and usability feedback
  • Engage with users, community stakeholders, and staff to provide engineering solutions and mentorship while gathering, analyzing and sharing feedback to help develop products, processes and support documentation that meets the needs of ECAD Labs users and community
  • Become intimately familiar and hands-on with all ECAD Labs’ products including current and upcoming functionality and how it relates to business value
  • Expand and entrench ECAD Labs position in the blockchain tooling space by helping to create the ultimate developer onboarding and user experience
  • Create and maintain code snippets, examples, sample applications and other demonstration materials that illustrate how developers can use our products, validate to ensure accuracy and appropriate logic
  • Drive organizational excellence in creating and maintaining end-user documentation by helping to define and manage documentation standards that meet the needs of users and follow and implement the latest developments and trends in the industry
  • Draft and publish articles and present materials in various formats for internal and external audiences (eg. Medium posts describing how new protocol features can be implemented with our products, conference presentations demonstrating how our products work)
  • Maintain and contribute to high-level product documentation that includes but is not limited to domain-driven design artifacts, high-level design documents, etc.

Secondary:

  • Leveraging your experience as a software engineer to help design products and technical solutions, contribute code and write documentation
  • Collaborate with management, product teams, engineers and contractors on the design, prioritization, implementation, review and testing of APIs, new features, code/documentation refactoring and other high-level engineering and development decisions

Requirements

Minimum:

  • Organized, detail-oriented, curious
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Expert knowledge of content development and publication tools
  • Experience working directly with the engineering team, providing feedback on implementations, and participating in agile/kanban planning
  • 3 years of work experience as a technical writer for a developer audience (or equivalent)
  • Hands-on with code and software development tools including VSCode, GitHub and GitLab
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs to deliver high-quality content on time

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing product documentation from scratch
  • Experience working on developer tools/platform/API products
  • Software development experience, especially with JS and/or TypeScript

Bonus:

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages
  • Experience creating lightweight, effective UML diagrams
  • Experience in working in open-source
  • Blockchain experience

Benefits

  • Opportunities for professional development including conferences, seminars, and educational courses
  • Maternity/parental leave top-up benefits
  • In-office and hybrid work environments
  • Health spending account
  • Optional Cryptocurrency vesting program

Location

The successful candidate may work at the ECAD Labs Inc. Vancouver office or utilize a hybrid work structure blending at-home and in-office work. Team members are expected to attend regularly scheduled in-person planning, collaboration, pair programming, social and other meetings and events in Vancouver.

This is a full-time employment opportunity for residents of Canada, including permanent residents and those with an open Canadian work permit.

ECAD Labs may place additional location restrictions based on the nature of the role and teams the candidate may work with.
