Job Description

Senior Business Analyst

Employment type: Contract (March 31,2024- strong likelihood of renewal)

Work Location: Hybrid – Calgary



The Senior Business Analyst will be a key member in gathering requirements and creating data driven solution by working with the business to understand opportunities where data solutions can support business objectives, improve process efficiency and support data driven decision making.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze data sources and design appropriate data presentation for diverse users
  • Analyze and document requirements as well as current state reporting, business rules, and other variables relevant to building proposed data solutions
  • Measure and analyze trends and updates to determine root cause and develop solutions to minimize reoccurrences and severity; report results to management
  • Prepare data and associated reporting, including data visualization to assess situations, provide insights to inform decision making
  • Accurately document all issues, resolution steps, and gather feedback in support tracking software to enhance identifying and reporting trends leading to recurring problems.
  • Lead the use of data in making evidence-based decisions and identify opportunities for leveraging advanced analytical and machine learning tools to achieve strategic choices
  • Assist team members through data solutions by clarifying requirements and performing quality assurance (QA) testing of published data sets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to data rules


Requirements


  • High level awareness of a variety of IT software development methodologies
  • Ability to identify and analyze errors and inconsistencies in the data and provides timely resolutions
  • 7+ experience in Business Analyst position, and strong capability to analyze and document requirements as well as: current state reporting, business rules, and other variables relevant to building proposed data solutions
  • Previous experience partnering with business and technical members to translates data results into written reports, tables, graphs, and charts to convey information (data visualization)
  • Strong ability to capture requirements from cross functional teams and create a variety of processes (process mapping, risk analyst, burn down charts, current to future state graphs)



Nice to Have


  • Recognized BA Certification is preferred
  • PROCSCI or ITIL certification is preferred
  • Experience in oil and gas
