Security Analyst - 4 (Contract)

Story Behind The Need

• Project: The role is responsible for managing all Intrusion prevention systems across the bank. The role also demands running with the current refresh project where old IPS's are being replaced with new technology and requires work during the weekends to comply with business maintenance window and minimize downtime.

Typical Day In Role

• Develop and deliver training materials and perform general security awareness and specific security technology training
• Develop and interpret security policies and procedures.
• Identify security issues and risks and develop mitigation plans
• Participate in security compliance efforts
• Manage, document, support current and new technologies
• Assist with the current IPS migration project
• Support the current IPS infrastructure
• Evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies
• Working with Clientbank change management and participate in change meetings
• On call support and after hours support is a must

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Network infrastructure, Firewalls and IPS
• Ability to provide 24x7 on call support after hours and on weekends
• Worked within a large corporation and exposure to change control, compliance and working with auditors
• 8+ years of working experience as a Security Analyst in IT

Nice-To-Have Skills

• Previous exposure to the banking industry/financial services is preferred
• Cisco or Fortinet firewalls/IPS is a strong asset
• CCNA/CCNP Certifications

Soft Skills

• Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization

Best Vs. Average Candidate

• Experience working in a network team with strong knowledge of firewalls

Education

• Post-secondary degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related IT field preferred
