Job Title: Reporting Specialist
Reports To: SVP Operations
The Reporting Specialist is responsible for providing ad hoc support and report building expertise to various levels of management and assist in financial and operational decision making. Will be the subject matter expert with regards to all aspects of financial data including but not limited to its extraction from various sources using available technologies. In addition, they will work to train internal customers regarding current BI technologies and gather sound business requirements for future system enhancements.
The Specialist will also be responsible for collaborating with all Sporting Life departments for budgeting, forecasting and long range planning, reporting & analysis for the company.
Description of Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to ad hoc requests (internal & external) for analysis, data and information on a regular basis.
- Provide analysis, recommendations and insights in support of retail analysis initiatives and projects as directed.
- Assist in auditing, monitoring, and improving data quality.
- Perform analysis of actual to plan, variance explanations and trending.
- Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating metrics and results for the region/stores.
- Identify and provide recommendations to streamline and improve existing business processes including reporting, month-end, planning and forecasting.
- Work with key stakeholders to develop the regional and store level payroll/labour workbooks.
- Drive the financial reporting process to include the integration of the strategy planning process in the operation budget process
- Assist with the identification of key business drivers and measurements and integrate these into the management reporting and ensuring common language across the organization
- Prepare calculation details of the retail bonus plans based on financial metrics and results.
- Merge and analyze ambiguous data from disparate data sources and communicate findings in a summarized format.
- Conduct expense/budget planning, analysis and variances for Operations
- Identify, build and maintain financial reporting including models and templates using a documented, auditable, and logical process.
- Develop and provide quantitative solutions to complex business problems.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications:
- 1-3 years minimum progressive work experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting, economic, statistical data and processes
- Some familiarity with Microsoft BI
- Ability to manage work flow and multiple requests, while meeting deadlines and managing expectations
- Retail Experience a must.
- Experience extracting and analyzing data from a data warehouse or another OLAP technology
