Job Summary:


Reporting to the Director, Board Reporting & Analytics, the Senior Manager will assist in preparing Board reporting materials for the Department and work on the evolution of performance measurement and attribution reporting. The mandate of this role spans a broad and diverse set of functions: investment management reporting, valuations, and data governance. The Senior Manager is expected to build strong internal relationships with Finance, Investment Management, Risk, IT, and other areas of HOOPP as well as with peers in the industry and other external parties.


What you will do:


Board & Committee Investment Performance Reporting and Analytics


  • Analyze and model complex data from various workflow and multiple systems and make recommendation to produce key metrics to provide the Board with the information required to fulfill its oversight and governance role.
  • Support the Director in preparing materials for submission and presentation to management committees (e.g., Investment Risk Committee, IRC Benchmark Sub-Committee, etc.).
  • Build cross-functional reports and dashboards using a range of business intelligence tools and technologies to provide investment performance insight.


Innovation & Operational Efficiency


  • This role will support the Director in leading innovation, business process improvement, sparking an innovation mindset within the Department and engaging external vendors to showcase innovation opportunities to the Department (such as artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, machine learning, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the management team in the Department, direct the development of process documentation, desktop procedures, and training (creation and delivery) ensuring consistency across the Department.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive integrated reporting and workflow re-design and reengineering for the Department by working closely with the management team.


Project Management & Support


  • Analyze and solve issues by working together with IT and other teams in the Department.
  • Lead the business requirement and project execution discussions.
  • Participate in the Department’s projects by collaborating closely with Departmental business leads.
  • Contribute to the review and update of all applicable internal policies as they pertain to valuations and performance measurement and reporting.


What you bring:


  • Experience with different types of databases and data warehouses (e.g., SAP HANA, Snowflake).
  • Strong data modelling, data processing and data analysis skills.
  • Strong background in portfolio structures and multi-asset portfolios and an in-depth knowledge of the private and public market investments, including derivatives.
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization confidently and effectively and to build strong working relationships in a team-oriented, collaborate environment.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Completion of University undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline, such as, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience in valuations and implementing an investment performance measurement system.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage complex processes that cut across Divisional business units in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • 7+ years of experience in in the pension industry or the financial services sector.
  • Previous project management experience is an asset.
  • Professional financial or other post-graduate designations(s) (e.g., FSA, CFA, FRM, CBV, CPA, MBA) is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience of developing reports using a range of business intelligence tools (e.g., Qlikview/QlikSense, PowerBI) and technologies (e.g., Python, SQL, Power Query).
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
