The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. The Materials & Quality Engineer works under the supervision of the Operations Manager and provides leadership to the operation team in relation to quality and customer issues. The Engineer manages the ISO 9001 & 140001 systems and develops/executes plans and projects that support Lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities. The Engineer partners with the operation team to conduct RCA’s on customer issues and to provide solutions. The Engineer works closely with the maintenance and EHS to ensure operations are continually improving safety, quality, productivity, cost, and culture. The Engineer routinely collaborates with other Morgan sites to review and implement global best practices.


Responsibilities


  • Support and assist in implementation of global best practices
  • Manage the Management of Change procedure for process and equipment changes
  • Plan, organize, and complete PPAP submission packages to automotive OEMs
  • Create (or improve), implement, and maintain off-line testing programs
  • Function as the primary engineering contact for complicated quality and customer issues
  • Develop technical and process training for operating personnel as needed
  • Improve production capabilities and operation through process engineering projects
  • Create, improve, implement, and maintain systems that will assure the quality and traceability of the incoming materials and final products
  • Provide leadership and instil accountability while addressing and resolving quality and customer issues
  • Conduct internal ISO audits as part of the internal audit team
  • Partners with the operation team to conduct RCA’s on customer issues and to provide solutions
  • Be versed in mistake proofing techniques, defect elimination and 8D processes
  • Prepare and issue Certificates of Compliance
  • Maintain/create detailed work instructions for manufactured products
  • Manages the ISO 9001 & 140001 systems and develops/executes plans and projects that support Lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and continually improve standard work for all positions by utilizing time studies, improving process flow, and increasing employee utilization


Qualifications


  • Ability to work cross functionally and multi task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • 1+ years quality related experience ideally within manufacturing
  • Associates Degree or related quality experience with manufacturing


Preferred Qualifications:


  • BS degree in engineering or demonstrated quality engineering experience (i.e. held QA Engineer job, QA Manager, CQE/CQM certified)
  • BS Degree in Materials Science or related technical field
  • Experience with ISO or within a regulated environment
  • Auditing experience
  • Experience with CNC programming (G Code)
