Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20 modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we're just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Junior Industrial Engineer.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. The Junior Industrial Engineer role will be to provide assistance to improve production procedures, processes and controls. The successfull candidate will be capable to Conduct research of the Design, liaise with Engineers, Designers and Operations, and aid the Development of all manufacturing processes inclusive of production flow, assembly procedures and production equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: Accredited Degree or Diploma in a Naval Architectural, Marine Systems Design or other discipline of engineering relevant to the Shipbuilding industry, or equivalent experience
• Experience creating production or process documentation (Manufacturing Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures and similar)
• Experience with manufacturing process assessment and development
• Experience in a technical role related to preparation of Ship Construction Technical Drawings from 3d Product Model software. Naval Ship related experience considered an asset
• Some experience working to IACS (Lloyd's, DnV, ABS, etc) classification society rules with regards to Technical Drawing requirements as well as production and material Certification Requirements would be considered an asset
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
• Experience: 0-4 years' experience in a complex manufacturing environment - shipbuilding experience will be an "asset"
• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
