Dillon’s Transportation and Facilities technical group is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at any of the Dillon offices in Ontario.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Design & Drafting
  • Develop the design of educational, institutional, healthcare, and commercial buildings
  • Apply 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, as well as other specialty programs such as Carrier HAP to produce design drawings and energy simulations
  • Prepare HVAC control sequences and schematics
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications, reports, and other deliverables
  • Prepare plumbing, HVAC, and Sprinkler load calculations
Project coordination & management
  • Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency, and integrity of deliverables
  • Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of sustainable and energy efficient building systems
  • Coordinate and complete field observation and management of site documentation during construction
  • Coordinate and complete contract administration services including processing Contractor's progress claims, valuation of change orders, tracking deficiencies, RFI's and review of shop drawings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, architects, planners, and technical and administrative support staff
  • Coordinate and complete field assessments and information/data gathering.
Learning & Development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Provide input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience
  • A degree in mechanical engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario or eligible to be licensed within six months
Experience
  • Development of design team leadership with the ability to create and manage design budgets, client deliverables and project schedules
  • Water and wastewater treatment projects
  • The consulting environment
  • Experience in process pumping and piping systems, industrial ventilation, exhaust systems and fire protection
  • Strong working knowledge in building plumbing, drainage, service piping systems, heating, ventilating and air conditioning design, and energy calculations using proprietary software packages
  • Demonstrated ability to develop proposals
  • Demonstrated abilities in direct digital control systems
  • Strong technical report and specification writing skills
  • Knowledge of industrial and building processes including applicable codes and standards
  • Heavy industrial including automotive, manufacturing projects
  • Building and facilities for government, real estate and resource projects
  • Experience in:
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare capital construction cost estimates
