We are hiringProject Cost Analystfor our client in York, ON (Hamilton area).


About our client

Our client is Railroad Construction & Maintenance leader in the rail industry with over 40 years of experience and spanning three generations.


Working Conditions

The job is only from the company’s office. There is no option to work hybrid or remotely.


Schedule:Mon – Fri, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm or 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Full-Time, Permanent Position.

Company location:Hamilton, ON


Compensation

  • 2-3 weeks vacation.
  • $65,000 to $75,000, depending oneducation and experience.

About the role

The Project Cost Analyst is responsible for comprehensive oversight of the projects, including planning and cost control activities. This role reports to the Controller, and the candidate will be responsible for conducting pricing analysis, optimizing pricing strategies, monitoring production costs, and understanding technical drawings to provide cost estimating. This is an excellent opportunity for technically proficient individuals to expand their leadership skills and be eager to learn and grow with the business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports for management as requested.
  • Ensure the project set up/structure supports the billing requirements, billing line set up as required.
  • Project Invoicing – unit pricing, cost to complete, fixed price.
  • Develop and maintain project progress reporting to include the status of committed costs against approved budgets, including all financial and earned value reporting by contract and business requirements.
  • Creating effective financial data analysis and risk assessment for projects
  • Generate accurate and timely draft billing for customer approval, post approved invoices, and collect overdue invoices.
  • Run and review productivity report.
  • Verifying, challenging, and confirming charges to the project from contractors and vendors
  • Supports Operations team with decision making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with tender packages & submittals.
  • Coordinate Time & Material billings, reviewing rates and mark-ups.
  • General accounting & reconciliation functions.
  • Monitor labour cost.

About you

  • You are advanced in MS Office (particularly Excel).
  • You have ability to work well in a team environment or independently
  • You are a good problem solver and communicator.
  • You are detail-oriented, organized, and have effective time management.
  • You are accountable and always keep track of follow-ups or commitments.
  • You have strong attention to details
  • You have proven 2+ years experience in finance, accounting, or analysis orientated role
  • You completed or working towards CMA designation
  • You have bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • You are proficient in Sage accounting software.
