Position Summary
The successful candidate will be teaching in a variety of delivery modes i.e.in class, online, and computer lab settings. The candidate will participate in program and course development, course modifications, program advisory committees, program accreditation, applied research initiatives, community outreach and on-going future program needs.
Responsibilities
  • Engage students to create a positive teaching and learning environment
  • Critically examine learning materials and classroom instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers
  • Use a variety of appropriate teaching/learning strategies
  • Provide and promote a respectful and supportive environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity
  • Use effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, management and external partners or community members, showing a sensitivity to intercultural communication
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert to support curriculum development and revision
  • Use academic technology effectively to enhance and support learning
  • Attends meetings, maintains records of student grades/assessments, and participates in meetings and activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities
  • Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of techniques
  • Develop, revise and adapt appropriate learning resources for students
  • Provide academic support to students as needed
  • Create a positive teaching environment
  • Remain current in technical knowledge and instructional delivery techniques
  • Maintain contacts with relevant industry and professional associations
Qualifications/Experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community.
  • Ability to work independently and with faculty to develop and deliver curriculum and contribute positively to the team environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative in the delivery of course materials.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the adult and/or post-secondary level as professor and/or teaching assistant
  • Ability to convey the conceptual and practical aspects of curriculum to students, while respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles
  • Excellent presentation, communication and human relation skills to interact effectively with the College’s multi-cultural/racial/able student and staff population
  • Previous experience in course or learning materials development is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
  • Honour’s Degree in Mathematics. Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics is an asset.
  • Experience with online, hybrid and blended learning delivery methods of learning an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching Mathematics of Finance
  • Demonstrated competent written, oral and strong interpersonal skills
