Job Description
SinaLite is a family owned business which has been operating since 1999. What started as a small 1,200 square-foot print shop which operated a single small AB-Dick printer has blossomed into a company of 150+ employees, containing several million dollars worth of printing equipment, and achieving a yearly sales revenue of 40+ million with over 20,000+ customers across North America.


The Production Scheduler is responsible for the smooth operations of the production cycle on a daily basis. The Production Scheduler will translate Client expectations into production requirements to ensure optimal customer service and product quality. Liaison between departments, vendors, sales and production to ensure optimal communication and output.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Examines and analyzes production specifications and capacity data, and performs mathematical calculations to determine production processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Analyze data using softwares (e.g Microsoft Excel) through various means, not limited to: Pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.
  • Monitor the execution of the production plan and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion, escalating complex issues to the Manager for resolution.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules, and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports.
  • Seek cost/waste reductions, identify and improve inefficient processes, and suggest continuous improvement projects for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Draws up a master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Prepares production schedules for departments and the organization through utilizing ERP software and dashboards.
  • Achieves both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates by utilizing plant production lead times and historical performance data to create schedules.
  • Investigate production problems, analyze root causes, and provide solutions.
  • Occasional work and take calls after hours and/or on weekends.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established production sequences and lead times.
  • May prepare lists and purchase orders to obtain required materials, tools, and equipment.


Requirements


  • Proven experience with coordinating multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in PC based software. Intermediate to expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel - including but not limited to: pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of print production: press, bindery, and graphics is an asset.
  • 1-3 years working experience in a relevant position.
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital print, Offset, Print & Mail and related processes.
  • Certified, or working towards a certification, in Product and Inventory Management (CPIM, APICS/CAPICS) and experience in the printing industry is considered an asset.
  • Post secondary diploma/degree in Production Planning, Business Management, Project Management, and/or other relevant experience is a requirement.


Working Conditions:


  • Fast-paced environment: subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time - up to 8.5 hours per day.
  • Occasional work on weekends or outside of regular working hours.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
  • Intensive computer work and extended use of the computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
  • Additional hours may be required due to operational requirements.
