Status: Regular Full Time and Contract Full Time- 13 Months

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON
Hours of work: 35 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary Ranges
Jr. Planner $69, 273- $86,593 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Planner $ 73,482-$91,853 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Intermediate Planner $86,443-$108,052 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Principal Planner $96,785-$120,979 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual

We are looking for Jr Planners, Intermediate Planners and Principal Planners to support our high functioning teams.

What You Will Do In The Planning Roles
  • Protect Regional and Provincial interest in the consideration of Official Plan amendments and other applications including plans of subdivision, condominium, re-zonings and site plans
  • Review, comment and coordinate consolidated Regional comments and recommendations on various development applications including Official Plans, Secondary Plans and Amendments, re-zonings, site plans, plans of subdivision and condominium to the approval authority regarding development applications including the preparation of reports to Regional Council as necessary
  • Represent and defend the Region’s planning policies and interests at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and other tribunals
  • Participate in a variety of special projects related to monitoring and improving processes, providing advice and service to Regional departments as a planning consultant on regional development submissions
  • Attend and participate in local and regional public meetings, area municipal planning initiatives and corporate initiatives
  • Prepare briefings and present to a variety of stakeholders involving Regional Council, Peel's Executive Leadership Team, Senior staff from other municipalities, conservation authorities, provincial ministries, regional departments legal counsel and public stakeholder groups.
  • Work in collaboration with planners and other professionals from other Regional departments, area municipalities within and outside Peel Region and other review agencies
What Our Various Planning Roles Require
  • 1 year of experience for Jr. Planner
  • 5 years of experience for Intermediate Planner and Principal Planner
  • Honors degree in planning plus knowledge in the planning field such as environmental, resources, urban or rural, and/or land use planning
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners
  • 3 years of experience for Planner
  • Knowledge of relevant industry legislation such as the Planning Act, Municipal Act and Provincial Plans
  • Knowledge of Provincial, GTHA, regional and local growth management issues
  • Knowledge of the Regional Official Plan, local official plans, the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement and Growth Plan
  • Years of experience in the planning field;
  • Ability to act as expert witnesses at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and other tribunals
Skills/Abilities
  • Polished customer service skills with an ability to work with a collection of stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and strategic thinking skills with the ability to support team members
  • Sound communication skills displayed through verbal and written work
  • Strong problem-solving skills to help evaluate and provide recommendations
Assets
  • Experience with GIS applications and strong computer skills
  • Strong project management skills

Work Mode & Job Location: Hybrid work mode; In this role you will have the ability work remotely and attend on-site at 10 Peel Centre Drive in Brampton Ontario, as operationally required. Staff are generally on site one day per week. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario
