• Multiple Positions are available at all three campus locations (Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke). Applicants must be able to work in person at one of these locations and indicate so on their application. These positions are open to current students only.

The Multimodal Student Assistant provides technical and moderation support for courses delivered via multimodal delivery.
The incumbent supports provision of a smooth learning experience for in-class and virtual students by helping with the start of class technology set-up, providing just-in-time technical assistance to the professor and students, and monitoring virtual chat comments to ensure timely professor attention to student comments and questions. Where appropriate, the incumbent liaises with the eClassroom Support team to resolve technical challenges. Performs routine, standardized and repetitive duties that are easily learned.
Duties And Responsibilities

• Monitors email before class starts for virtual students not able to connect to web conferencing (e.g. Zoom) session.
• Provides minor technical support just before and during class time. This can include troubleshooting student web connection and audio issues, creating and supporting Breakout Rooms for the professor, supporting the use of other virtual tools (e.g. polls, whiteboard etc.), and helping to switch cameras and microphones, and cycle through slides when required;
• Joins the professor in physical class 15 minutes prior to the start time to assist with setting up web conference (e.g. Zoom) session, cameras, microphones and other supporting equipment;
• In the event of more difficult classroom technology issues, works with eClassroom Support and stays connected with virtual students while professor continues to teach in-class students;
• Connects to web conference (e.g. Zoom) session as a co-host before the start of class to troubleshoot potential technical issues before class begins and starts session recording if required;
• Monitors web conferencing chat to alert professors of comments or questions from virtual students

This position is paid at a rate of $15.00/hr.
