We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals with expertise in Library and Information Technology/Information Resource Management sector interested in teaching part time. These part-time professor positions, reporting to the Chair, Community Studies, require the incumbent to deliver one or more courses (3 to 6 hours per week) to diverse students in the Library and Information Technician Diploma or the Bachelor of Information Technology - Information Resource Management Degree. Multiple positions are available.
Responsibilities will include course preparation, delivery and assessment of student work in accordance with College policies.
These positions are for teaching from September 5, 2023 to December 22, 2023, and thereafter as agreed with the Program Coordinator and Chair. Interested candidates must be available to teach in person between 8:00am and 10:00pm.
Required Qualifications

• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
• Comfortable with the use of computer and educational technologies to align with the teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document https://www.algonquincollege.com/col/files/2012/01/The-Professor-of-the-21st-Century-Framework_final_May_2011.pdf
• Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent;
• Experience as an instructor, workshop leader, trainer or other for an adult learning environment;
• Ability to work independently;
• Minimum three (3) years related work experience in the library, archive, records or information management field;
• Familiarity with course management software an asset;
• Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies and commitment to success of all learners;
• Ability to teach in one or more of the following subject areas: Cataloguing, Classification, Collections Management, Information Management, Information Retrieval, Metadata, Records Management, Reference, and Web Design.
