Location: Head Office, Edmonton AB

Reports to: Vice President, People & Culture


As the People and Culture Lead, you will support teams across the US and Canada, serving as a hands-on partner to the leadership team and guide for individual team members. Your responsibilities will encompass talent management, people operations and analytics, employee relations and engagement, and health and safety management. Supporting a defined portfolio of business groups, key accountabilities include but are not limited to:


  • Manage and support various people programs and initiatives focused on employee engagement, recognition, learning and development, health and safety, and compensation and benefits.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, offering guidance and support across various people and employee matters. Utilize your expertise in coaching and performance management to foster productivity and performance and consult on employee issues.
  • Complete routine tracking and reporting of various people analytics and program activity. Maintain employee records. Research, report and conduct benchmarking to garner analytics and insights to inform program recommendations.
  • Develop and execute programs, processes, policies, and systems aligned to business strategy, best practices, compliance requirements, and employment standards (US and Canada). This includes ensuring the company is compliant in different geographies and monitoring adherence with policies and procedures.
  • Lead the new hire orientation and onboarding programs. This includes facilitating new hire onboarding sessions, virtual new hire classes, supporting new hire 30-60-90-day plan development and completion and conducting new hire check ins.
  • Prepare and distribute various forms, reports, policies, procedures, and employee communication. Update company policies and documents and create SOPs and reference materials.
  • Organize and coordinate virtual and in-person employee events and initiatives. Provide support to company initiatives and other team members as required.
  • Oversee and manage the recruitment and hiring process, identifying talent requirements, managing, and participating in the hiring process, issuing offers and contracts, conducting background checks, and supporting a positive candidate experience.


Job requirements:

  • Self-motivated, organized and strong business acumen.
  • Enthusiastic, customer and solutions-oriented, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
  • A minimum of 5 years previous HR generalist experience with specific experience managing the full recruitment cycle.
  • Knowledge of US and Canadian employment standards and labor law.
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in HR or related field.
  • Demonstrated success handling a busy portfolio.
  • SHRM and/or CPHR professional designations in good standing.
  • Exceptional writing, attention to detail and communications skills.
