Purpose
The P&C Business Partner reports to the Senior Manager, People, Culture and Talent Development and plays a pivotal role in championing effective people strategies across all dimensions of HR. The P&C Business Partner serves as a strategic collaborator, driving HR initiatives that foster employee engagement, organizational growth, and a vibrant culture. They will work closely with business leaders to design tailored people solutions that support business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership
- Collaborate with leaders to identify growth opportunities and development needs, providing solutions for career enrichment and team engagement.
- Advise on employee/labour relations, interpreting HR policies and presenting options informed by the Canada Labour Code.
- Gain deep insights into client group operations, strategy, and challenges, leveraging operational knowledge to deliver HR best practices.
- Guide leaders in conducting effective career conversations, providing constructive feedback, and nurturing team engagement.
- Address inquiries from internal team members, leaders, and external partners.
- Monitor leaves of absence, facilitating returns-to-work and accommodations.
- Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with leadership teams, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor.
People Programs & Service Delivery
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition for efficient recruitment, offering insights into role requirements.
- Identify leadership and employee development needs, partnering with the Learning & Development team to source solutions.
- Lead the annual performance management process, ensuring effective goal-setting and development discussions.
- Assist in annual compensation reviews and benefits communication for client groups.
- Help drive Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, supporting the Employment Equity submission process.
- Facilitate the Employee Voice process, offering expertise in analyzing results and driving engagement action plans.
- Lead projects enhancing P&C programs & services and company initiatives
HR Effectiveness
- Partner to elevate P&C communication channels within Rocky Mountaineer, enhancing program and change communications.
- Assist fellow P&C team members as needed.
- Stay updated on global HR practices, aligning recommendations with RM strategies.
- Support the review of HRIS systems, processes, and procedures, optimizing efficiency and engagement.
- Develop resources enabling effective program implementation and team leadership.
- Interpret HRIS data to identify trends and recommend actions.
Qualifications
Education / Certification / Licenses
- CPHR designation an asset.
- Undergraduate degree in Business Commerce or Human Resources.
Experience
- 8+ years of HR experience, ideally 3+ of those years in strategic business partnering.
- Knowledge of international HR practices (USA, UK, Australia) an asset.
- Proficiency in employment legislation, including Canada Labour Code.
- Background in organization development, learning design, engagement, and employee development.
- Facilitation skills for group interactions.
- Knowledge of job evaluation, compensation, and benefits analysis.
Skills
- Advanced project management and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Familiarity with HRIS (UKG Pro) an asset.
