Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Occupational Health Coordinator plays a key role in the promotion and coordination of the company’s Health and Wellness initiatives and the delivery of the disability management process. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for WCB claims administration. This role will also assist with medical leaves, short-term disability, long-term disability, and WCB claims across Canada and the USA, and advises on return-to-work opportunities and creates return-to-work plans while working within all applicable regulations, legislation, and workplace processes. The incumbent is also responsible for data entry, record maintenance, and coaching managers and other stakeholders on all aspects of integrated disability management processes.


This role is available on a part-time basis. Hours are negotiable.


As an Occupational Health Coordinator at Graham you will:


  • Create and process invoices and estimates related to the health programs.
  • Provide initial injury/illness intake, follow up, and case closures.
  • Liaise with physicians, specialists, treatment providers, and insurers when required to obtain the required information to facilitate a timely return to work and create return-to-work plans based on medical information and/or functional restrictions/limitations.
  • Process and triage all occupational and non-occupational claims to determine the complexity of each case and assign the claim to the appropriate claim owner.
  • Maintain claims intake process.
  • Coordinate health and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize appropriate software to record information, maintaining regular contact with injured/ill employees with a focus on reducing time-loss durations and enhancing recovery.
  • Review letters from the insurers to determine the suitability of decisions.
  • Meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.


To be successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:


  • Post-secondary diploma in a health-related field is required
  • Ability to recognize when an issue or situation is beyond own knowledge or ability.
  • Ability to operate in an ethical, professional manner while respecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of disability management practices
  • CDMP designation or equivalency is required, HAS/NCSO or equivalency is an asset
  • Experience in managing WCB claims is essential
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in the construction industry with a medium to large organization
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' of experience in case management and return-to-work planning
  • Aptitude for prioritizing tasks in an effective manner.
  • Understanding of position-related medical terminology.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of Safety Management System and Service Desk Management system.
