POSITION SUMMARY:

Paragon Soil is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Health & Safety Coordinator on a 12-18 month contract (maternity leave). This role will be pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the safety culture of our organization. Reporting directly to senior managers, the Health & Safety Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of our Safety Management System.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the return-to-work program as required.
  • Conduct training sessions, new hire orientations, and regular office inspections.
  • Educate supervisors and workers on their HSE responsibilities.
  • Act as an information conduit to deliver safety information to staff and clients.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and operation of Paragon Soil's Safety Management System.
  • Maintain confidentiality as per company policies and PIPEDA (2000).
  • Maintain client safety tracking websites (ISNetworld, Complyworks, CanQual, Avetta).
  • Ensure compliance with client safety programs.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of hazard identification and safety risk assessment.
  • Coordinate internal or external COR audits.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to communicate technical and regulatory information effectively.
  • Accreditation, or ability to attain accreditation for First Aid, OSSA, CSTS, PCST, WHMIS.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Health, Safety & Environment Management Systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in industrial construction, pipeline, piling, and/or mining industries.
  • Accreditation as an OH&S professional (i.e. CRSP) is an asset, but is not required.
  • Knowledge of OH&S Legislation, Laws & Regulations is a plus.
