Job Description

About the Opportunity

The Quality Control and Health & Safety Coordinator is a dual role where the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of a company's health and safety compliance and will also ensure from the quality perspective that all RAM products meet and exceed customer specifications and RAM’s internal quality standards. Additionally, the incumbent will implement company initiatives, training, process improvement, and auditing.


Responsibilities


Quality Control

  • Perform first-off inspections, receiving inspections, and in-production inspections and will be responsible for stencilling, stamping and passing all quality-approved products.
  • Communicate inspection issues in production processes to the Director of Production
  • Responsible for ensuring products meet a company's production standards. Duties include monitoring manufacturing operations, testing products for flaws, and reporting defects.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve these guidelines since they help update testing and safety protocols.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and completion of Internal Audits
  • Works with co-workers to create and qualify robust inspection processes.
  • Suggest best practices in inspection techniques through industry experience.
  • Consolidate internal audit results, write final reports, and close outstanding audit points.
  • Resolve any issues and discrepancies. Conduct quality training sessions and workshops when required.
  • Maintain and analyze data and create quality dashboards for management.
  • Develop and conduct quality control initiatives. Review all existing and new documentation for completeness.
  • Conduct thorough checks on products to see if they meet company guidelines and safety standards.


Health and Safety

  • Ensure annual inspections on equipment and training needs are met.
  • Responsible for reporting and managing the WCB claims process.
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
  • Conduct onsite safety walks, audits, and inspections.
  • Schedule monthly health and safety meetings with safety committee members as regulatory standards require. Documents safety meeting minutes and follow up on action items to ensure responsible parties have completed actions.
  • Responsible for all fire safety activities, including maintaining a fire safety plan and completing mandatory drills.
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
  • Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events
  • Manage return-to-work programs proactively, working closely with the employees, their manager/supervisor, and the insurance organization to ensure the employee’s safety and health and protect the Company’s interests.
  • Mentor, guide, teach, and coach Team Leads on health and safety requirements, responsibilities, and how to fulfil them.
  • Update and recommend Health & Safety rules, procedures, policies, and manuals.
  • Create and implement safety plans while ensuring they are followed daily.
  • Represent the Company during inspections and external audits.
  • Maintain Health and Safety, bulletin boards.



Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of safety and workers' compensation along with pertinent federal, provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and apply the ISO quality system standard.
  • Familiarity with standard manufacturing industry concepts, practices, procedures, and processes for Health & Safety and Environmental compliance
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good knowledge and experience in Quality Management Systems, Six Sigma, or similar Quality measurement practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Experience in Health and Safety regulations/issues/committees.
  • Must be able to write, speak and communicate to engage employees, management, and others productively and credibly.
  • Working knowledge of measuring equipment, blueprints, and technical information.
  • Superior detail orientation: values accuracy and has high standards around the quality of work.
  • Competent and knowledgeable in Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Code and other regulatory requirements in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to write clear and concise audit reports accurately.
