Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to cover a maternity leave. Motif Labs is looking for someone driven, accurate and service-oriented to join our team. In this role you will be relied upon to provide a wide range of support to our business teams and external legal counsel, primarily on contract administration and drafting.


You will directly report to our Chief Revenue Officer who leads the contract negotiation process, in addition you will support other business units including Supply Chain and Finance. The position is remote but may be required to come to site on occasion at our Aylmer, Ontario.

As well as operating a business-to-business enterprise, offering toll processing and contract manufacturing serviced to Licensed Producers (LP’s) and 3rd Party Brands. Position Overview:


  • Manage third party screening process of suppliers and customers.
  • Implementing and maintaining an efficient contract management process/system for easy reference to various proprietary contract templates, existing and new contracts and agreements as well as contract lifecycle management.
  • Understand commercial background of transactions; draft, review and revise initial and subsequent contract drafts in collaboration with internal managers and external counsel.
  • Be proficient at various types of agreements such as confidentiality agreements, procurement agreements, manufacturing agreements, brand agreements, general sales and purchase conditions & agreements, as well as amendments thereof.
  • Provide contract related training to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the contract administration process - responsibility for the entire lifecycle of all contracts. Initiating, drafting and completing all new contracts, managing and updating all current contracts to be relevant to evolving business terms, renewal of all contracts.


Qualifications:


  • Post-secondary education in Canadian contract law (either a degree or Paralegal college diploma)
  • 2-5 years of experience in drafting and reviewing legal commercial contract provisions and transactions in Canada
  • Shows initiative and ownership of work and willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude with strong communication skills
  • Strong time management skills including ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Experience within the Cannabis industry is considered an asset
  • Consistent eye for detail, accurate and high standards for all work output is critical
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word)


WORKING CONDITIONS (REMOTE):


This is a REMOTE role but requires you to be eligible to work for any employer in Canada and must possess the necessary work eligibility documents (i.e. open work permit, permanent residency, Canadian citizen)


  • This is a Maternity leave coverage position
