COMPENSATION: $20.81/hour -(additional .40 cents per hour between 11pm & 7am)

SHIFT: Monday to Thursday - 4 days/week

To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a Relief, Overnight Worker.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Overnight Worker provides assistance and support to adult consumers living with mental illnesses and addiction issues on a casual or as needed basis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals, and cleaning the common areas of the residence.
• Assisting residents by providing care in their daily activities in such areas as feeding, moving or transfers, toileting and personal hygiene.
• Maintain the operation of the house and property by conducting security, fire, health and safety checks; activating the appropriate emergency procedures or “on-call” system for emergencies or serious occurrences within the residence
• Building a rapport with each resident to enable them to meet the daily requirements of their housing environment and to accept a healthy lifestyle; providing socialization and recreation
• Assisting with resident routines, especially with medication management; maintaining a general awareness of the activities or whereabouts of residents in the house, monitoring and reporting on their health and wellbeing; identifying potential issues and communicating to staff or noting incidents as required in appropriate logs and files;
• Clean common areas of the residence, such as offices, bathrooms and kitchen by sweeping, dusting, washing floors, vacuuming, removing garbage, etc

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Fluency in second language an asset
• Experience in working with limited supervision but as part of a team of professionals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Reflective of a multi-barriered group, as serviced by the program, a strong asset
• Computer literate
• Ability to work Full time from June until August 2023; role will convert into Relief in September
• Knowledge of issues faced by adults with special needs, which will include: addictions and cognitive impairments
• Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework
• First Aid and CPR
• Understanding of harm reduction, the logic model and psychosocial rehabilitation principles as acquired through a relevant degree/diploma and/or experience in human services
• Good crisis intervention and problem solving skills
