What you’ll do: The Operations Manager is essential to the overall success of Otto Logistics and you will have the exciting opportunity of helping shape our company as we grow. You will be supporting with leading the day-to-day operations of the business and ensuring all packages are delivered on-time, in pristine shape, safely, and with a smile. You will motivate and lead a team of Delivery Associates (Drivers) and Dispatchers with the support of the most cutting-edge technology in the logistics business.
Dispatch Duties:
- Determine opportunities for improvement of key metrics and execute action plans to achieve results
- Ensure a good and positive working relationship with Amazon management at all times through regular communication and delivering results
- Perform numerous daily dispatch duties to motivate and mobilize a fleet of up to 60 Delivery Associates for their day of deliveries
- Do due diligence and promptly respond to Amazon escalations about employees, payroll or fleet related issues
- Analyze operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports, and collaboration with the Owner
- Participate in providing Amazon auditors required documentation pertaining to hiring/onboarding and worker's comp to pass annual audits
- Manage the daily performance of Delivery Associates (and 1-2 Dispatchers) against Amazon delivery metrics to ensure efficient and successful deliveries
- Assign and manage employees to ensure the safe and efficient loadout of packages, minimizing operational cost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement, tracking, and administration of company vehicles
- Investigate, resolve, and/or escalate customer service issues, as appropriate
- Input reporting information through Amazon systems on daily/weekly/monthly basis
Human Resources:
- Ensure coordination with employees and Workers Comp insurance agent to timely and accurate file any injury claims
- Responsible for preparing the weekly schedule to ensure adequate coverage, efficient operations, and no overtime
- Ensure through hiring and onboarding that headcount is more than sufficient to always comfortably execute committed routes during slow and peak seasons
- Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to hiring (application review, interviewing, etc.), terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns, and staff productivity
- Promote a positive culture and provide coaching and take disciplinary actions to get the best performance and reliability from the team
- Ensure the team adheres to all safety procedures and prioritizes safety at all times
- Responsible for labor cost control and timecard maintenance (ensuring breaks are taken)
- Responsible for training new employees regarding job duties and performance expectations and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and other training requirements
Fleet Management:
- Execute preventive maintenance scheduling, recall/repair scheduling, accident intake, inspections, cleanliness and vehicle procurement
- Ensure there are spare vehicles to execute Amazon committed routes comfortably
- Ensure registrations and insurances are up to date at all times
- Maintain good fleet condition that meets Amazon standards
Miscellaneous:
- Perform all duties of a Delivery Associate in an emergency need, including route “rescues”
- Display flexibility and sense of urgency, while leading and engaging employees in a positive and professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
- Adapt quickly to change to meet dynamic business needs
What you’ll need:
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal interactions
- Fluent in English
- Possess a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- Customer service experience 1+ years
- Ability to read, interpret and draw conclusions from numerical data and written information
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Must be able to move boxes up to 50lbs, with out without reasonable accommodation
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills, anticipate issues before they arise, and proactively suggest short- and long-term solutions
- Must be a safe driver and observe all traffic rules and company safety policies
- Delivery driving experience 1+ years is an asset (Amazon DSP experience a significant asset)
- Ability to mentor, coach, and act as a knowledge resource to other employees including giving challenging but supportive feedback when needed
- Valid class 5 BC Drivers License or above (Commercial license NOT required)
- Must be tech savvy and have software skills, including the use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
- Ability to inspire a shared vision, empower and motivate a team, and have fun
- Must be comfortable driving and working in varying weather conditions
- Ability to handle ambiguous situations while coaching team members through remote and in-person interactions
- Must be at least 21 years old

Schedule:
- Shifts range from 8-12 hours
- Driving shifts in imminent situations
