Motion Designer

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Motion Designer with Figma and After Effects experience, video editing experience and knowledge of 3D to place at our client, a multinational technology corporation .

Client: Multinational technology corporation

Terms: Contract. Strong possibility of extension.

Location: 100% Remote

We are seeking a Motion Designer to work horizontally in support of various projects. You have demonstrated the ability to effectively partner with project managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers. You are a great creator, collaborator, and communicator who has a talent for telling stories through motion.

Responsibilities

• Works creatively around technical implementation challenges to provide delightful motion design for customers
• Understand the array of technical constraints, user goals and business requirements that shape current and future products
• Define and improve the look and feel of products through motion design
• Explore, iterate, and create inspiring product experiences based on deep understanding of customers, partners, and business strategies
• Craft thoughtful, innovative, elegant, and beautiful motion designs, while being proficient in rapidly produce rough motion sketches
• Follow, adapt, and evolve motion language and principles according to each design problem
• Document design and animation decisions as specs for future team and product reference. Should be able to make hand-off to partners effortless and smooth
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team designers, engineers, and project managers to ensure shipping products matches motion design specs and meets the quality bar set by design
• Communicate with developers through the code implementation phase to realize design vision
• Strong passion for motion and animation, aiming to simplify complex interactions and solve challenging design problems

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4+ years professional experience as a UX motion designer or similar design role
• Understanding of the basic principles of user experience (UX), graphic design, visual, motion, animation, patterns, and physics
• Bachelor's degree in User Experience, Motion, Animation, Interaction or Graphic Design or equivalent design-related field
• Online portfolio highlighting multiple projects that demonstrate Motion Design and/or Interaction Design in web contexts, and your direct contributions to those projects.
• Experience in a variety of design tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Adobe Suits, LottieFiles and other motion design and prototyping tools

Qualifications:

• Experience using motion to reduce perceived latency
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities
• 4+ years of experience partnering directly with engineers, project managers (PM), research for design implementation
• Ability to seek out simple solutions to complex design challenges
• Able to work across many complex product areas, partners, UI/UX, visual and product designers
• Ability to focus on detailed aspects of motion experience and user interaction
• Experience crafting motion design and creating documentation in Figma
• Experience collaborating with Engineers on Motion execution using written motion specs, Lottie, JSON, HTML, or CSS etc.
• Strong proficiency with After Effects for creating high-fidelity motions, rapid motion iterations, and motion studies
• Awareness of code feasibility when animating
• A portfolio demonstrating your expertise in creating delightful, well-crafted, and thoughtful product experiences, as well as exceptional animation skills
