About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Mill Operations Superintendent to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site. This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 14x14, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

The Mill Operations Superintendent is responsible for leading the Mill Operations team in safely achieving planned production and cost targets. The successful candidate must have a strong focus on employee engagement to help achieve increased safety and productivity targets. The Mill Operations Superintendent will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the 60,000 tpd concentrator. Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to, all areas of the crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering circuits, tailings area pumps and pipelines, and water sources external to the mine site.

The Mill Operations Superintendent Is Directly Involved In The Creation, Administration, Monitoring, Updating, And Enforcement Of All Policies Governing Mill Activities, Along With The Following

• Leadership of the processing operations team
• Coordination and cooperation with other departments to ensure safe production, cost, and other strategic business objectives are met
• Partner with the Metallurgy team to monitor and continuously improve plant performance
• Active involvement in safe and environmentally sound work policies, procedures, and systems
• Partner with the Maintenance team to ensure the right preventative and corrective maintenance is conducted at the right time and with the least disruption to production
• Manages performance and development of direct reports and guide the leadership of indirect reports. Ensures compliance with Company personnel policies and procedures. Provides specific training and development opportunities for supervisory and hourly employees. Counsels and coaches subordinates concerning, performance, employee relations, safety, environmental compliance, productivity, and cost control
• Review expenditures to prevent excess costs and inaccurate charges
• Direct involvement in production planning, capital budget planning, and operating budget preparation

About You

To qualify, you must have at least 5-10 years of supervisory experience in mineral processing mill operations. Prior experience in plants with similar characteristics is preferred.

The following skills and experience will be critical to successfully performing this role:

• Ensuring success of production schedules
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operations management is an asset
• Coordination and management of special projects and associated contractors
• Confident and capable to effectively contribute to the site leadership team
• Excellent health, safety, and environmental awareness and compliance with all relevant laws, policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Experience in base metal and gold production is an asset
• Intermediate to strong computer skills in MS Office and enterprise software
• Exposure to formal project management practices and ability to make sound project decisions
