Job Overview
The Field Trainer is responsible for the execution of, and adherence to, the learning and development initiatives and strategies for corporate and franchise locations. The Field Trainer will ensure employees are set up for success in their respective positions, through the facilitation of training sessions, and the monitoring of store performance from a learning and development perspective. The Field Trainer is crucial to the brand’s success by reviewing store performance metrics, identifying issues or challenges, and executing learning and development programs to target said issues and challenges. The Field Trainer will also develop, embody, and deliver a positive, motivated, and forward-thinking employee culture at all levels of the organization.
Job responsibilities
- Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure all training updates and deployments are streamlined for all restaurants, and disseminate the relevance for corporate and franchised locations
- Assist in creating learning aids, resources, standards, operating procedures and expectations of restaurant management and front-line roles
- Deploy all compliance related training for corporate locations including Health & Safety, Harassment & Violence-free Workplace Training, Accessibility Training, WHMIS and any regional training as required
- Conduct Operational Assessments and Audits per the assigned schedule and market, and provide feedback, coaching, and action plans to the field teams
- Assist in the assessment and development of training initiatives for corporate and franchised locations
- Review guest feedback and identify gaps in the guest experience for individual restaurants and follow-up on process and resources to resolve trends and issues
- Coach, mentor and develop restaurant staff to ensure the highest level of product and service quality meeting Corporate Brand Standards
- Facilitate and monitor employee learning and development through SharePoint and/or Learning Management System (LMS)
- Update and maintain all employee training records for corporate locations with the People + Culture Team
- Coach and motivate restaurant management and front-line employees and align with the company values and competencies
- Implement, facilitate, and monitor training initiatives at restaurants, both for new store openings and existing locations, in corporate and franchise locations
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Education or equivalent proven and related work experience
- Effective influencing skills
- 3+ years in Hospitality and/or food & beverage operations
- Strong communication skills in English. French and Japanese are an asset
- Positive attitude and willingness to be Better Than Yesterday
- High level of attention to detail
- Proven history of successfully training employees
- Must be able to facilitate workshops/presentations and meetings
- Proven history of successfully motivating and managing people
- Able to travel to restaurants in the assigned market and offices as required (this includes Canada and the US)
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office is required
- Restaurant opening experience is an asset
