About The Position


As a Marketing Strategist, you will work directly with our marketing strategy clients. Working closely alongside the CMO, you’ll act as a fractional marketing manager to several clients - providing anywhere between 5 to 10 hours per week per client - to develop and deliver a marketing plan. You also may work directly with our coaching clients during one-on-one hourly sessions. The role includes:


Duties


  • Provide hourly marketing coaching to our small business and e-commerce clients.
  • Market research including researching client competitors by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintaining research databases.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of day-to-day marketing activities, whether that’s working with our client’s selected social media agency, executing on SEO initiatives, coordinating content marketing campaigns and any other marketing tasks required to successfully deliver our client’s marketing plan, marketing project deliverables and campaign goals.
  • Project manage marketing campaigns using Monday.com, Slack and other cloud-based tools.
  • Explores opportunities to add value to company goals.
  • Tackles special marketing projects, as required.
  • Personally develop deliverables based upon your strengths, experience and development plan. This may include writing and developing campaign assets, including blog articles, social media posts, email and other campaigns, as needed.
  • Maintain marketing materials and assets, plans meetings, maintains databases, and tracks and reports on campaign analytics.
  • Account management, development and client success: You will touch all parts of the client development process.
  • Act as a fractional marketing manager to our retainer clients. You will be assigned 3 to 6 active clients, with a few ad-hoc marketing projects as required.
  • Work with the CMO, develop and deliver the client’s marketing plan.
  • Achieves goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.


Qualifications


  • 3 to 6 years of marketing experience, preferably in a generalist capacity. You may have had a role as a marketing coordinator or perhaps a marketing manager for a small company prior to applying for this role.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing or related field, required.
  • Ability to consult on all aspects of digital and content marketing - analytics, social media, thought-leadership campaigns, funnels, etc. While you may not know the intimate details on how to deploy an SEM or paid Facebook campaign, for example, you will know the ins and outs to be able to consult on the strategy and best practices.
  • Growth mindset
  • You’ve created at least one of the following: competitive analysis, marketing personas, value propositions, customer journey.
  • You think in “process” and look for ways to create repeatable processes and contribute to learning libraries for others to work and learn from.
  • You will work from home but are required to be in Vancouver for team building, client meetings etc.
  • Excellent organizational ability. Passion for keeping things organized. Penchant for project management.
  • First-hand knowledge or experience in e-commerce marketing and business development. You must have at least 1 year’s experience marketing or developing an e-commerce property. You know the basic workings of how Shopify and/or WooCommerce works.
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and get to work on several of the following: creating posts in WordPress, creating Zapier connections and zaps, building out email campaigns and importing lists, building automations and workflows.
  • Comfort operating G-Suite, Zoom and other cloud office platforms.
  • Ability to produce graphical or video content using Adobe Suite highly preferred.
  • Familiar with the nuances of emerging email marketing platforms (e.g. Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Active Campaign etc), CRMs (Hubspot, PipeDrive etc) and automations.
  • Experience with general marketing and communications concepts: branding, public relations, event marketing etc.
  • Previous experience as an entrepreneur - either as a side hustle or full time enterprise - or direct management or marketing of a small business is highly preferred.
