Job Description
Job description:

Agfa Graphics is looking for a Manufacturing and Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing operations in Mississauga, ON. You will develop and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. You will plan, design, setup, modify, optimise and monitor a variety of manufacturing processes to streamline production, improve quality assurance, eliminate waste, and increase through-put. Implement LEAN, 6S Manufacturing philosophies on the shop floor and to provide training to shop floor employees on the benefits of LEAN, 6S Manufacturing. Document current processes and create pictorial work instructions while validating/auditing our current Bills of Materials for accuracy. Ensure Inline Quality checks are achievable and repeatable. Ensure Quality requirements are clear and achievable and align with the manufacturing SOP.  Provide engineering support to production, to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. End to end management of engineering changes process (VND/ECM)

 

Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare manufacturing support documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures, and new product introduction. Train manufacturing staff on new engineering processes and procedures related to Inkjet equipment build.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness. 
  • Understand and follow all Health & Safety procedures. Promote a safety first work environment.
  • End to end management of engineering changes on existing products from R&D to production floor ensuring proper and timely cut in, maintain product and process data base tracking Engineer changes and production cut ins. Feedback to R&D to improve product design for efficient and cost effective manufacturing.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean, 6S manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, consistency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Develop manufacturing SOP for efficient and cost effective printer builds within budgeted build times.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances, BOM discrepancies, Engineering Drawing accuracies, Manufacturing SOP consistency and accuracies.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing. Resolve technical issues in manufacturing. Provide new solutions to existing and repeated manufacturing issues.

 

Education:

  • Engineering Diploma (CET) or University Degree

 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

 

Specific skills:

  • Work with manufacturing employees at all levels and to be able to effectively explain the relevant points of equipment to each and the process required in detail.
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Be able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements.
  • Ability to read & interrupt engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Elimination of all manufacturing rework
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in English
  • Continuous improvement and elimination of waste through ongoing analysis and identification of inefficiencies within the manufacturing process.
  • Windows, Word, Excel, Project, Power Point and other office tools.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with both co-workers and outside services.
  • Apply working knowledge, experience of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance quotas.
  • Analyse the product and design a method to produce that product efficiently at optimal cost.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Working Knowledge of SAP
  • Active working member of the MIL, MPL teams. Provide solutions to manufacturing, service, engineering issues.
