The Opportunity

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and technologists that are responsible for the development and implementation of processes, procedures and production equipment used in the manufacturing of complex electronic assemblies.

Location: Ottawa, ON

Your Challenge

• Lead efforts to reduce cost of poor quality.
• Collaborate with Design, Quality and Shared Services teams to improve producibility and cost.
• Apply professional process engineering and related manufacturing principles and practices to examine potential changes to equipment and methods.
• Analyze performance metrics for processes. Look for negative anomalies over time and pursue continual improvement.
• Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for manufacturing processes.
• Manage department salaries and discretionary budgets and CAPEX to yearly/quarterly plans.
• Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.

Your Expertise

• Solid understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes
• Solid understanding of financial fundamentals and reporting practices
• Solid understanding of statistical process control and lean manufacturing
• Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality
• Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and reporting skills
• Strong customer interfacing skills

Education/Experience

• Generally, requires a university degree in Science or Engineering, and 7-10 years' experience, or equivalent.
