a day in the life
- Manages team case load and assignments and ensure SLAs are met.
- Remain informed on global employee relations trends, internal policy updates and updates to legislation.
- Development, guidance and support of direct reports.
- Update Investigation Practices based upon legal requirements, industry standards and feedback from business.
- Discern when to engage with legal partners and IDEA on complex Employee Relations matters and mitigating risk to our people, business and brand.
- Partnership and collaboration with Employee Relations Manager and Sr. Manager, Employee Relations to deliver on overall Employee Relations Mandate.
- Identify and foster relationships with key leaders and partners in P+C, IDEA, and the business and acts as point of contact for urgent ER matters.
- Provide coaching and guidance to team conducting investigations, as well as reviewing and approving outcomes, and provide consultation on pro-active approach in addressing employee relations concerns.
- Provide guidance and input for employee relations insights reporting strategy and delivery.
- As a CoE support BP and Advisor teams with escalated employee relations matters (performance improvement, separations, etc), ER consults.
- Lead and support investigations as needed (specifically those identified as more complex and/ or higher risk);
- In partnership with Sr Manager, Employee Relations and Legal, create strategy to provide ongoing education and ongoing development for the team related to investigations i.e. legislative updates, case studies, best practices, etc.
- Certificate/training in Project Management.
- Extensive knowledge and experience providing consultation on sensitive ER matters in Canada and USA.
- Strong communication skills both written & verbal
- 3+ years experience in leading complex Workplace Investigations
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience with a focus on Employee Relations (ER).
- Ability to travel.
- A post secondary diploma, degree or certificate in human resource management.
- Builds relationships quickly; must be an effective team player.
- Excellent organizational skills and abilities, detail-oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy
- 2+ years leading a team or equivalent experience related to developing and leading people through work.
- Certificate/training in Conflict Resolution.
- Strong project management skills
- Capable of effectively managing multiple demands from a variety of sources.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Certificate/training in Workplace Investigations.
- Knowledge of employment/labour standards and human rights legislation and industry trends.
- Foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.
- Acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for your life.
- Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results.
