Job Description

You will be responsible for providing oversight, direction, administrative and operational support for the gallery as well as engaging with prospective buyers and clients in person and electronically.The role will involve supervising an intimate team, driving gallery sales, and delivering the very best in customer care.

Coastal Peoples has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Supervisor and Client Relations professional to join our vibrant Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver.Our Gallery can give you the opportunity to experience Indigenous culture in an arts environment. For over 25 years, Coastal Peoples Gallery has presented a world class First Nations and Inuit collection, and has brought visitors and collectors together to experience their art and culture in a historic Gastown location.

Description of Position:

We’re seeking inspiring and self-motivated candidates with solid inter-personal, administration and sales skills who are willing to provide oversight and maintain all aspects of gallery operations and handle team management during a flexible work week.

Responsibilities:

Working within an intimate team environment, your responsibilities will be to:

Ensure smooth daily operations of gallery

Lead the team towards achieving gallery’s priorities, objectives and goals

Coordinate and oversee team task assignments

Perform and execute training of the team

Actively engages in highlighting the achievement of others

Provide feedback on team development and work performance

Plan team monthly work schedules

Professionally handle sales in person, digitally and prospecting clients

Preparation of various reports on inventory, sales, etc.

Website inventory and CRM database management

Assist with exhibitions and special events

Gallery organization, maintenance and cleanliness

Assist with other associated projects as requested

Opportunity for growth into Management position over time

Requirements:

3 – 5 years Supervisory or Management experience

Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and administrative skills

Multi-tasker capable of working with a team as well as independently

Comfortable and confident in making effective decisions in a timely manner

Experience with content, product and inventory management

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, etc.

Must have the ability to work calmly and quickly under pressure

Ability to handle volume and complexity with speed and accuracy

Well organized individual with meticulous attention to detail

Ability to handle delicate artwork in a professional manner

Willing to work within a flexible weekly schedule

CRM experience is considered an asset

A university or college degree or post-secondary education is an asset

Previous gallery experience is not necessary although preference may be given to those who have worked in a gallery/arts environment
