a day in the life
  • Manages team case load and assignments and ensure SLAs are met.
  • Update Investigation Practices based upon legal requirements, industry standards and feedback from business.
  • Lead and support investigations as needed (specifically those identified as more complex and/ or higher risk);
  • In partnership with Sr Manager, Employee Relations and Legal, create strategy to provide ongoing education and ongoing development for the team related to investigations i.e. legislative updates, case studies, best practices, etc.
  • Provide guidance and input for employee relations insights reporting strategy and delivery.
  • Development, guidance and support of direct reports.
  • Partnership and collaboration with Employee Relations Manager and Sr. Manager, Employee Relations to deliver on overall Employee Relations Mandate.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team conducting investigations, as well as reviewing and approving outcomes, and provide consultation on pro-active approach in addressing employee relations concerns.
  • As a CoE support BP and Advisor teams with escalated employee relations matters (performance improvement, separations, etc), ER consults.
  • Identify and foster relationships with key leaders and partners in P+C, IDEA, and the business and acts as point of contact for urgent ER matters.
  • Discern when to engage with legal partners and IDEA on complex Employee Relations matters and mitigating risk to our people, business and brand.
  • Remain informed on global employee relations trends, internal policy updates and updates to legislation.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of employment/labour standards and human rights legislation and industry trends.
  • 3+ years experience in leading complex Workplace Investigations
  • A post secondary diploma, degree or certificate in human resource management.
  • Strong communication skills both written & verbal
  • Ability to travel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and abilities, detail-oriented and committed to a high degree of accuracy
  • 2+ years leading a team or equivalent experience related to developing and leading people through work.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Extensive knowledge and experience providing consultation on sensitive ER matters in Canada and USA.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience with a focus on Employee Relations (ER).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Certificate/training in Workplace Investigations.
  • Capable of effectively managing multiple demands from a variety of sources.
  • Certificate/training in Project Management.
  • Builds relationships quickly; must be an effective team player.
  • Certificate/training in Conflict Resolution.
