Job Summary:
The Business and Communications Manager, Office of the CIO (OCIO) participates as a member of the OCIO leadership team and is responsible for managing the communications and business operations of the OCIO and the departments within. The Manager plays a key role in overseeing core operational activities in the areas of strategic planning; project management, human resources, planning and policy development, administrative, and financial processes. The incumbent makes decisions regarding the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to enable the office to deliver high quality services to the University.
The position is responsible for and ensures the coordinated delivery of ongoing communication needs related to the OCIO portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Client-services oriented with demonstrated listening and critical thinking skills.
- Proven management and leadership skills in a unionized environment; experience in team building and managing change.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budget modelling, forecasting, and analyzing.
- Strong skills with the UFV’s Financial Reporting System (FAST) and basic knowledge of Banner, or similar large enterprise system.
- Strong computer skills with high level proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Purchasing and contract negotiation experience.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret complex policies and procedures related to financial, budgetary, and human resources issues.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a progressively responsible administrative role at the leadership level, preferably within an academic environment.
- Experience with the University’s budget model, academic and financial policies, procedures, guidelines, systems, and structure is highly desirable.
- Strong team-building skills and a collaborative and consultative style.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with senior administrators and responding to and handling matters of a complex and sensitive nature.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Superior planning and project management skills with a focus on executing and competing tasks under pressure and within deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills and an ability to solve problems creatively.
- Proven leadership, time and change management skills.
- Ability to adapt to ever changing workload priorities and events and effectively reprioritize or defer tasks in line with operational and strategic goals.
