Position Purpose
This position is responsible for focusing on measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quick changeover initiatives and uptime opportunities.
Key Accountabilities
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for hiring, training and coordinating activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing process equipment, machinery and buildings.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure reliable weekly startup of all of all production areas
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Coordinates the activities of workers engaged in maintenance to promote uptime and eliminate excessive overtime in conjunction with the maintenance planner
  • Initiates plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Deliver site initiatives relating to Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and People
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems
  • Estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments in conjunction with the maintenance planner
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to workers
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Manage the execution of the preventative maintenance program and continual improvement initiatives
  • Directs contracted projects to verify adherence to specifications
  • Manages the continual improvement and execution of the planned and preventative maintenance program for all site equipment
  • Initiates promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Member of Food Safety Committee- Ensure that compliance to the policies and procedures of the facility and Regulatory and Customer requirements are being met
  • Plans ,administers and reports on maintenance budget
  • Purchases building and maintenance supplies, machinery and equipment and furniture
  • Assigns workers to duties such as maintenance, repair or renovation and obtains bids for additional work from outside contractors
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Computer literate- Microsoft Productivity Tools especially excel for downtime reporting and budgeting requirements
  • Strong in follow-up --- must catch every detail
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP
  • Persistence – will not give up until desired results are attained
  • Effective communicator, able to listen effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast paced plant environment
  • Required to possess general knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic technical
  • Service oriented, high need to please
  • Energetic with positive attitude, a good team player
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to OHSA
  • Effective organizer and ability to multitask
  • Effective administrator with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively
Required
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
  • College or University degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technical Field
  • Technical training certificate, diplomas, or university degree in engineering
Preferred
  • 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment

  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the department
  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
  • ASPIRE BAKERIES Limited is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
  • Depending on position, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and respirators are available if required
