We are helping our client fill the Fleet & Maintenance Manager role in Brampton, ON; the reputed client in the transportation industry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fleet & Maintenance Manager to join in overseeing the maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in fleet management, mechanical expertise, and a proven ability to effectively lead a team of maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities:

Fleet Maintenance Supervision: Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Preventive Maintenance Program: Develop and implement a proactive maintenance plan, including regular tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections, to enhance fleet lifespan and reliability.

Repairs and Troubleshooting: Oversee timely diagnosis and resolution of mechanical issues, providing technical guidance to tackle complex problems effectively.

Parts and Inventory Management: Manage spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory, ensuring sufficient stock levels to minimize downtime.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure all vehicles and equipment adhere to safety and environmental regulations, promoting a safety-first culture among the maintenance team.

Fleet Efficiency and Cost Management: Analyze fleet performance metrics and maintenance expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve fleet efficiency.

Training and Development: Provide training and professional growth opportunities to the maintenance team, staying updated with industry best practices.

Recordkeeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate regular reports for management review. Implement continuous improvement initiatives and emergency response protocols. Collaborate with finance for budget management and environmental compliance. Participate in fleet replacement planning and equipment acquisition processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred,
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to fleet operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of maintenance technicians.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
• Relevant certifications and extensive work experience in fleet management will also be considered.
• Automotive Technology or a related field is preferred.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and resolve mechanical issues effectively.
• Proficiency in using fleet management software, maintenance tracking tools, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Budgeting and financial management skills to monitor expenses and control costs.
• Proven experience as a Fleet Maintenance Manager or a similar role, preferably in a transportation, logistics, or fleet-based industry.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance, repair practices, and preventive maintenance programs.
