Job Description

Job title: Legal Assistant

Location: 10 Elm Street, suite 504, Sudbury, ON P3C 5N3

Start date: to be determined

Job type: full-time, permanent

Wage: $40,000 to $54,000 - to be determined (based on level of experience and qualifications)

Number of positions: 1

Objective of this Role

Northern Law LLP is a boutique law firm that provides client-focused legal services in the City of Greater Sudbury. Our practice primarily focuses on civil litigation, family law, criminal law, and estate matters. We pride ourselves on our commitment to access to justice, transparency and our willingness to take on challenging cases.

We have an exciting opportunity for a legal assistant to become an integral member of our growing team. As an ideal candidate, you have excellent organizational skills to help partners and associates with all procedures of family law practice and phases of the litigation process.

Key Responsibilities

·Prepare correspondence, briefs, affidavits, motions, contracts, domestic agreements and other documents

·Arrange for filing and service of court documents

·Liaise with clients and other related parties

·Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for review and case preparation

·File management and document administration

·Prepare Net Family Property Statements

·Assist counsel in preparing for and attending court

Required Knowledge and Experience

·Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·A strong sense of urgency, attention to detail and anticipatory skills

·Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

·Understanding of legal language, court pleadings and processes

·Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

·Working knowledge of the Family Law Rules, legal procedures, and other applicable Legislation

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Excellent interpersonal skills
