Lead Mechanical Engineer – (Minerals And Metals) - Burlington

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support our project in Eastern Canada. We are looking for someone with passion and drive, who is highly organized and can ensure that our high standard of quality is maintained. With varied engineering, procurement and construction options, your skilled guidance in influencing project plan execution is crucial to the delivery of sustainable and successful outcomes for our clients. The role will be based out of our Burlington Office. Please note we are working on a hybrid model and there is flexibility to work from home.

About The Role

• Assist the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required.
• Take on a mechanical lead role on major projects; including managing engineers and designers and organizing mechanical work on the project, managing project budget and schedule, and reporting mechanical activities internally and to the client.
• Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
• Issue drawings and engineering deliverables for construction by working with engineers and designers.
• Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of mechanical engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
• Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training.
• Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment by specifying requirements and assisting procurement with the purchase of equipment.

About You

• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
• Previous experience in Minerals & Metals is a must, and Oil & Gas would be an asset
• Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Good knowledge of CAD, 3D software and MS Office.
• Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
• Well-developed written and oral skills.
• Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
• Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario
• 10 - 12 years mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing, materials handling, preferable with gold and copper
