Civil Engineer - Burlington

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer to support our projects in Eastern Canada. We are looking for someone with passion and drive, who is highly organized and can ensure that our high standard of quality is maintained. With varied engineering, procurement and construction options, your skilled guidance in influencing project plan execution is crucial to the delivery of sustainable and successful outcomes for our clients. This role is based in our Burlington office, however, please note we are working in a hybrid model, and there is flexibility to work from home.

About The Role

• Supervision and mentoring of design technologists.
• Prepare cost effective civil and site utility designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with local codes and standards for industrial & mining projects.
• Construction administration including report writing, preparation of specifications and estimates.
• Provide engineering design solutions for industrial and mining projects
• Coordinate with project managers and various disciplines engineers and ensure consistency in execution of civil design activities to complete project work on time, on budget, and within the quality standards.
• As applicable, act as engineer of record or discipline lead, providing direction to drafting and engineering staff in the preparation of designs, design drawings, contract documents, engineering specifications and cost estimates for civil projects.
• Perform site visits, inspections, preparation of reports, functional and detailed design relating to water and wastewater distribution and collection system, storm water management facilities, grading and bulk earthworks, parking lots and roads as related to mine sites.

About You

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience in consulting engineering working on industrial, mining projects is preferred
• Highly motivated with strong commitment to teamwork
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience, primarily in the design of civil infrastructure for industrial & mining projects (including bulk earthworks, roads, storm sewers, storm water management and drainage, and site services and utilities).
• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Construction and contract administration experience is definitely an asset.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, and member in good standing.
• Proven experience in municipal design, leading and dealing directly with design teams, clients and approval agencies.
• Proficient using Civil 3D
