Job Description
Acuren Group is currently recruiting a Structural Engineer to support our Remote Access Industrial Solutions Department. This position will be support Altantic Canada and will be based in either Dartmouth NS., St John's, NL., or Saint John NB.
Responsibilities
In this role, the incumbent will perform a wide range of engineering and project tasks for various projects including design and engineering plans for suspended platforms, aluminum truss systems, repair plans for piping and structural systems. 3D project plans and project management. The successful candidate will also assist in Engineering reviews, analyze data and delivers conclusions by written report. The role ensures work is managed within budget, meets client requirements and completed within designated timelines.
Participating in technical projects
  • Acting as project leader and collaborate with other internal resources for support when required.
  • Carrying out a range of engineering and project tasks for various client projects at all project phases.
  • Ensuring efficient use of resources and delivery of results.
  • Providing support to projects such as document preparation, creation of estimates & inspection scopes, specifications, budgetary oversight and reporting.
  • Communicating with clients to plan, schedule and execute site work.
Providing clients with support and engineering expertise by:
  • Continually striving for process improvements including creating comprehensive reports aligned to client needs, identifying solutions to issues and developing recommendations for implementation.
  • Identifying additional services and products and new technologies to meet ongoing client needs.
  • Understanding customer requirements and needs to ensure expectations are met.
  • Meeting with customers to discuss report findings, recommendations and conclusions.
Conduct engineering work including:
  • Design Remote Access Solutions for proprietary suspended platform and Truss systems including anchor selection and loading assessments.
  • Assuring compliance with project schedule and costs
  • Performing fitness for service assessments on pressure equipment as per API-579 and ASME FFS-1
  • Performing Finite element analysis of various equipment and structures
  • Producing detailed procedures for rigging, lifting equipment, and other complex access solutions
  • Delivering conceptual and detailed structural designs based on project specifications and engineering inputs following the applicable standards, and codes
  • Analysis and design of various structures such as tanks, piping systems, pressure vessels, structural members, etc
  • Work within a 3d Point Cloud CAD environment to develop workflows, project plans and simulations of remote work platforms and structural repairs of vessels, piping systems etc.
Requirements
  • A university degree in Structural Engineering
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience
  • Membership in a provincial association for professional engineers is required
The position requires understanding and knowledge in the following areas:
  • Engineering theories, principles and practices.
  • Awareness of industrial codes and standards related to materials, welding, tanks, and pressure equipment.
  • Project management processes.
  • Experience with laser scanning, photogrammetry point, various 3D software.
The position requires the following skills and abilities:
  • Ability to translate knowledge into practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively respond to different levels of understanding, and produce professional reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and driver license, Class 5 (clean record) required.
  • Ability to resolve issues and problems that are not clearly defined.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data effectively.
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD, Navis Works and other relevant design software for working in a 3D environment.
